Another happy customer being dragged out. But it’s quitting time for me.

Blue Monday

166.039 calibre 565

sans rotor during last service

I've been meaning to ask the Forum: What is the correct terminology describing that "checkerboard-y" looking track around the outside of of this Genève? Speedmaster Racings and some other mid-1960s Omega Seamasters can be found with it.

I like the look of dials featuring that track.

Are those hands heat blued or are they coated? The blue hands on my Dan Henry are coated with a transparent blue glaze of some sort. They look nice but under magnification they are obviously coated.
I did a little poking around can’t find any solid information I’m going to guess it’s chemically blued or colored rather than heat treated due to the cost of the watch but I will look to clarify

I think it falls into the “Racing” and/or often seen “exotic” categories. Have a look at this thread and you’ll see most all of the watches shared in it have the pattern you’re referring to.

@styggpyggeno1 even shared their flightmaster stating
“And "checkered" pattern on dial - I cannot see anyone mention the Flightmaster yet”

So, I think it qualifies as a “Racing” pattern.

So this is the grail you had incoming?? 🥰

😁

The bezel isn't perfect but is original DoN so I can live with that. Everything else is as expected and no red flags - the bracelet has all the links thankfully and the original gold spring bars.
