whoa... this is where I come to escape reality... I hope she recovers well... I'm not sure if I offended in anyway by my comment, but that surely was the last thing that I would have intended... feel free to PM with any Medical queries... even if I don't know the answer, I know where to look...
What/where is Magnusson.Goteborg? Great name - fun to say out loud. Was it a jewelry store or perhaps a gift watch?? I assume Stockholm, probably? One of my college roomies was from Iceland and the languages are of course, very similar. Fun to say out loud (especially with my New York accent ...lulzzzz
Kind thoughts, well wishes and God speed! I've been doing the same for mom. I'll be taking her for her daily radiation dose in about 4 1/2 hours. Her chest has turned a very unnatural shade of lavender. Not purple, not red but, lavender.
Of all the awesome things about Breguet and it's certainly a very long list, I (((heart))) the coin edge more than all else. Can spot one from across any room or public space. Like a falcon spotting a poor, doomed field mouse. Except, I won't be eating your Breguet (...it's not OK eat your watch, right?).
I've not seen this beauty before. Looks like a "clamshell" case, no? Mido seems to have done a great job over the years designing watches which are very water resistant. Recently, I decided to make a Mido Commander Oceanstar "Aquadura" my daily wearer. I get at least 2 or 3 honest compliments each day from this humble watch. She's got an etched hesalite lens which looks like a million dollars. My other daily wearer is a UG 7750 which keeps almost perfect time and was a steal (all things considered; all things being equal). Your Mido is a jaw dropper. Congrats!
I'm also a fan of 34mm to 36mm ish chrono's. I like the scale of the pushers on a smaller watch. For example, my favorite chronograph (read: a watch I can realistically afford) is the Gallet Flying ( flight) Officer. Despite watch snobs dismissing the brand as a five and dime store watch (it basically was); there are plenty 'o 1930's Pierce Single Button chronos, many in near mint to mint condition floating all around today. For those looking to dip their toe in the pool of vintage chrono's, this is great place to start! Lots of parts available for service and near mint examples can be had for 400 US bucks. Will you get rich from one these? No, not even close. But, you probably won't lose a dime on one these watches and you could end up making a few pennies. I'll tell you what: for such a low end watch, 1930's Pierce Chronographs have held up better than 99% of everything made in that era. So, perception is not necessarily always reality. Consider: how many 80++ year old watches from any house or brand looks this good after so many decades? The dial printing is as good as I've seen. Whoever made dials for Pierce wasn't cutting any corners!
