Are you still balancing a penny on the stylus to stop the 'basstedd' jumping?
I've realised that I need to buy a record deck.
I've kept most of the records that I bought when I was a pretentious teenage guitar player in the early 1970's. All my mates were into Slade, and there was I, at school, with my 'Focus' and 'Yes' albums, comparing the guitar styles of Steve Howe and Jan Akkerman. Then later, alone in my bedroom, I would indulge myself with the secret joy of Marc Bolan and T-Rex.
It was a pointless quest because I was quite aware that I had already bought my most influential album 3 or 4 years earlier. A compilation of Jimi Hendrix and The Who. 'Back Track 3'.
I've had that album tucked away for 50 years now, and it's the one that shaped my guitar playing up until today.
Focus, Yes and T-Rex sparked my love affair with Gibson guitars but Jimi Hendrix taught me that all I really needed was a Fender Stratocaster. I'm still battling that one 50 years on.
Lovely memories of vinyl
Thankyou for reminding me
