Getting back into vinyl after too many years away , did the eighties thing & got rid of all my vinyl to make way for that new upstart the CD & I embraced the CD . But back into it big time now after a 30 year break & have been trawling charity shops , & old vinyl shops in Chester where I live , Nottingham , Birmingham, Liverpool , Manchester , Stratford upon Avon , Solihull , Colwyn bay , Leeds , York, Bradford , Tamworth , oh the list goes on & on , & picked up some real old classics to me & must have bought at least 50 albums & over 100 singles . And tonight we are listening to first pressing of Don McLean American pie album ,& Paul Simons classic Graceland which will be followed by Wings band on the run. I didn't realise how much I missed vinyl until now image.jpeg

Ok, so still Benjamim Clementine. Just got back from his show here in Lisbon, utterly elated. If you like, and miss Bowie , he's your man. Challenging, theatrical, phenomenal.

Are you still balancing a penny on the stylus to stop the 'basstedd' jumping?:D

I've realised that I need to buy a record deck.

I've kept most of the records that I bought when I was a pretentious teenage guitar player in the early 1970's. All my mates were into Slade, and there was I, at school, with my 'Focus' and 'Yes' albums, comparing the guitar styles of Steve Howe and Jan Akkerman. Then later, alone in my bedroom, I would indulge myself with the secret joy of Marc Bolan and T-Rex.::shy::

It was a pointless quest because I was quite aware that I had already bought my most influential album 3 or 4 years earlier. A compilation of Jimi Hendrix and The Who. 'Back Track 3'.

I've had that album tucked away for 50 years now, and it's the one that shaped my guitar playing up until today.
Focus, Yes and T-Rex sparked my love affair with Gibson guitars but Jimi Hendrix taught me that all I really needed was a Fender Stratocaster. I'm still battling that one 50 years on.::confused2::

Lovely memories of vinyl::love:: Thankyou for reminding me @CPRwatch. :)

Great albums, great bands with, yet more, fantastic guitar players. Joe Walsh and Don Felder trading licks on Hotel California and Lindsey Buckingham's magic on Rumours. (but never ever forgetting that the name Fleetwood Mac was launched by the genius of Peter Green).:)

I couldn't put a tune together for a million & I have a singing voice that makes children cry .I remember watching the Marc bolan series in the early seventies ,& vividly remember Marc singing a duet with David Bowie . I only have one T.rex single currently & its Singapore import from 71 of Get it on .Go buy yourself a deck , best thing I've done for years :) image.jpeg
