"12th Street Rag" being played by its composer, Euday Bowman. "12th Street Rag" begins at 2:21.
My dad had this same 1948 recording (same blue label with ivy leaf) of the tune when I was a kid, learning a basic version on the accordion. I embellished it to mimic the Bowman performance and still play it that way today. Later I stepped on the record, left on my bedroom floor, and broke it, much to my chagrin.
Bowman was old and ill by the time he made this recording in Fort Worth, Texas. It was said that he made it to help with his sister's expenses and his upkeep while he lived at her house. My dad bought a copy of the record at that time.
Garth hudson of the band recently passed. Talk about an amazing accordion player as well as any other instrument you can mention. Here he is on in years with dementia setting in but still hitting it
SoCal NPR station KCRW. Eclectic 24 and some of the DJs. Even though I'm in Canada. Plus some of the news programming. Been a regular listener since 2009.
