I’ve read mixed reviews from the critics but most fans seem to like it. I read the book and saw the documentary “don’t look back” about that time period. Definitely plan on seeing the film. I’d actually like to see something about Dylan year 2000 on as he seemed to get an amazing second (or twenty second) wind and has written some mind blowing melodies.

I have been having insomnia, only been getting a couple hours of sleep. Put this song on as my alarm. No matter how crappy you feel at 5:30a all groggy you can’t help but dancing.

Jazz is so hot. I sit in with some guys who are light years ahead of me. I like playin bass with them as it kinda holds jazz together but when these guys go off into their “solos” or own thing they seems to let it flow, play by feeling not thinking. That’s where I faulter and “fail” at jazz. I think I force it. It can sound like a hot mess but it isn’t. It’s true feeling. Then it pulls back together.

I always thought blues was the true American music but many say jazz. Maybe they both are.

Jazz is Blues by structure. Jazz arose from Blues.

FreeForm or Avant-garde music borrowed only the instruments of Jazz.

Room enough for both in the great punchbowl of Music.

The bass in Jazz, as intended, was like a tent pole, it allowed all the other accoutrements to be tethered but flexible in form.

Bass was the anchor, baby!😀 When you see the tent, y'all are cookin',baby, but, as you say, when not, the tent kinda collapses.

Just be happy the stand-up bass replaced the tuba early in the beginning😀

I cannot get enough of this record. On order with Acoustic Sounds. Streaming for now. Just gorgeous. They don’t put out many records but when they do … wow, just wow.

Had to go to work today for a cold weather protocol meeting. We are going to be -0. Fahrenheit for a while so it creates some havoc at work. Unfortunately I found my original director passed last night. She was 46 with two young daughters ended up in hospice 2 weeks ago. She was one of those people who got the diagnosis 11 months ago made sure she lived life as much as she could and made peace with the end early in her diagnosis. I was just surprised as I visited her last week and she was bright and responsive.

She was a great boss and even a greater person. She had some very marketable skills which could have brought her a lot more money than running a homeless shelter. Anyway she told me this is the song she would have written about passing on if Levon hadn’t beaten her to it. I feel bad for her family but I’m glad she is at peace and free of pain. So a couple songs for Rebekah and I hope to see you again.
