I saw these guys a while back. Everyone going into the arena was patted down by a cop. I found it a little intrusive tbh as the cop seemed too happy with his job but that’s just my libertarian streak.

Anyway good show but a guy sitting next to me took out a four foot bong. I asked how the hell he got it in he just laughed and offered me some. Weird.

Symarip - Skinheadmoonstomp. I saw them in Long Beach on Saturday,

Very cool, it is great to be able to see the original Ska legends while they are still around. I got to see Toots and the Maytals in a small venue in Eureka, CA back in 2007, and in my high school days I got to see the Skavoovee tour in Portland, OR. This poster shows the line-up, except I don't think mu330 played Portland. I am pretty sure it was some other forgettable 3rd wave ska band.

The Skatalites were the highlight of the show in my opinion, followed by The Selecter. The Special Beat were a bit of a let down. I am a big fan of The Specials and The English Beat, but the Special Beat's performance was so-so.

For some reason I had discounted Amy Winehouse until recently. Boy was I missing out. I dig pretty much everything she has done. This concert is a nice example:

I was looking for Ella’s cover of savoy truffle but this popped up. I remember in a book McCartney saying how honored he was Ella did this

Just popped on a brisket and a mess of ribs, listening to some Jazz. Ribs ready in a few hours, but brisket will go low and slow till dawn, then wrapped in butcher paper and rested till lunch.

This:
Saw them on the PV, pump, get a grip tours and then headlining Donnington in 2011, one of THE best live bands ever and any of you who got to see them I'm sure you'd agree. Huge part of my youth and sure going to miss them🙁 shit! I'm old!🙁

A great loss during the covid pandemic. He was in bad health and caught it. A great songwriter started his career as a mailman.
