I can't get enough of most rock from about 65 to 80, but The Dead just never clicked with me for some reason. I knew a few of the tunes, I could could converse politely with fans, knew Jerry was a largely under appreciated player, and I kinda understood the lifestyle.
Then it hit me. Right time. Right place. I dunno. But Blues For Allah, man!
What a great record! And from what I understand, their first to be composed and recorded to be a cohesive album from front to back (?).
I still can't say I'm a camp follower, but boy do I dig that record.
Where does that one sit with the hardcore following? Is it low hanging fruit? Is it "the accessible album"? Does it ruin my street cred to like it as much as I do?
