Now with all due respect to Keith I still think Taj has the best cocaine song

This used to be one of my favorite songs to play prior to a “bad finger” incident. Stephen Stills underrated IMO

What a nice song tells the whole story in about 2 minutes.

I was in my states capitol today (never particularly pleasant) but on a very cold day a group of guys were a few blocks down from the hospital performing this so nicely it stopped me in my tracks and I forgot about the cold. I need to go back Friday I’m gonna see if it’s a regular thing. My goodness I wish I had a 1/4 of that talent

I loved BTO when I was younger. The Guess Who as well, but BTO was more my thing. Randy Bachman is an amazing guy, has been in two bands that have reached amazing heights. I've seen him in concert and Burton Cummings in concert, but not both of them together.

Randy has some great stories from his time in the industry. So here's a story about BTO recording the album "Head On' in the 70's, and having Little Richard play piano on a few tracks...as told by Randy on his radio show and book of the same name, Vinyl Tap Stories. The "he" here is Little Richard:

"Now, the fun began! The songs were in the keys of A, D and E - simple, or so I thought. But he couldn’t play those chords. He could only play in C. Therefore, I had to use some clever trickery. He was getting so stressed out about the whole thing that we began to jam around on his own songs, just to ease the tension.

I then got the idea of actually slowing down the tape for one song, Take It Like A Man, so that it worked in the key of C. And we got a take, even though Little Richard thought we were just rehearsing. When I played the song back to him, at normal speed, he was amazed. ‘Who’s playing piano?’, he asked. ‘It’s you,’ I replied. ‘Hallelujah!’ he shouted, ‘Randy Bachman’s taught me to play in the key of A!’ He was so fired up that we did the other song as well - Stay Alive. It was only after this was done that I told him he’d been playing in C all along, and that I’d used technology to change it. He was so furious that he stormed straight out!"

I always liked their music but it wasn’t until I saw him live on one of “Ringo Stars all star bands” that it stuck me how friggin good this guy was. Ringo put some incredible bands together but seeing Bachman live pretty much stole the show IMO. These days he frequently does a show on XM satellite radio with his son talking about his days with BTO and Guess who he is interesting, funny and very down to earth. Seems like he has a lot of appreciation for his gifts and maintained a lot of humility. I really enjoy listening to his show.

Oh snap I made a situation worse. On Valentine’s Day my buddy broke up with a girl he has been seeing for years and understandably it’s hitting him pretty hard. I warned him not to listen to Dylan’s “Blood on the tracks” as that’s what I did back in the day after a breakup. Dylan wrote the Album while going through a divorce and it’s just powerfully depressing but one of his best, I have stopped by every night since and including Valentine’s Day just to hang out see how he is and sure enough seems like all he is listening to is blood on the tracks. Tonight he played this 3 times in a row for me. Frig remember never suggest people “not” do something he wasn't even I big Dylan fan I feel like this is on me. We are going for a hike tomorrow though so maybe he’s ready to stop torturing himself with “if you see her day hello” she might think I have forgotten her, please don’t tell her it isn’t so.
