On your system do you think you could pick out the difference between the 96KHz /24bit stereo and CD quality blind?

Between my normal age related hearing loss and the quality of my system, I don't think I would notice a difference. My stereo system is not low end, but not high end either. Decent stand alone DAC, Cambridge Audio integrated amp, DALI speakers.

This BluRay sounds better to my ears on my system than the 1987 or 09 CD but not as nice as the latest version on Vinyl. But there are many issues of AR/White on vinyl that sound outstanding.

I don't think I would have problems with comparing the digital and picking the BluRay, it is that much better, hence my comment about the drums. Collectors talk about the Japanese first run AR, the so called Black Triangle version, as the best on digital, but I've never heard that issue.

Music is both subjective and system dependent.

You are never too young for tinitus if you try hard enough. Try listening to the mosquitoes ring tones, or tones of various frequencies. "Normal" human hearing is 20hz to 20Khz, but most people over 40 can't hear 15Khz and above. Check out:

Be sure to use a decent set of headphones.

OK, you have inspired me to check out some hi rez flacs. I mostly listen to CD rips, but occasionally download from Qobuz (paid downloads, nothing nefarious).

Strange thing is when I go for an FAA medical my hearing is top percentile.

So, I can hear well but when I lie down in bed or sit in a quiet room, it's's so loud!

In typical man fashion, I've decided to ignore it. Seems to be a good option since there's nothing that can be done about it anyway.

But if anyone reading is young enough to have time to preserve their hearing, I implore you: use hearing protection. When you start thinking: "it's just one hole to drill in that steel." Or "it's just one pass through the saw." Or "just gonna set these two rivets." That's when you're cumulatively screwing yourself.

Saddest part is that the back of my brain knew it and did it anyway.

Good advice - however tinnitus can come from different things, so not just loud noises or music. Mine is medication related.

An important point, sir.

I'm not on any meds so I'm sure I just drilled too many holes and banged too many rivets lol

Hey, Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

You're at the mercy of many extra layers of technology and human manipulation before the waves get to your ears.

Post with your impression afterwards.

It should be easy to distinguish relatively minimal bass and drums with previous digital to this BluRay.

I try not to get in the weeds on stuff like this and just enjoy the music.

Will do, and I agree. There are so many variables it could drive one crazy.
