Cute...(all love)

Scotch cabinet

Everything else.

This does not include long term investment storage or what’s on the bar. Investment storage is a lot of signed Bruichladdich and rare Ardbegs. Plus 5 bottles of Jefferson Select 17. I paid 80 for them and they are over 1,500 now. Basically they are the last Stizel Weller juice ie Pappy but better and even current Pappy is made to spec now and not “real”

I collect scotch...

I’ve got an alcohol problem, thankfully not a drinking problem.

Damn!!! I just really got into bourbon/scotch about 3-4 months ago...every one of those bottles ive picked up in that time frame. I’m still figuring out what I like but I’m finding I gravitate toward the Islay whiskys (my favorite being Lagavulin 16...so far) and single barrel bourbons. I have yet to try Pappy or Ardbeg...but I’m looking forward to trying both.

@Foo2rama impressive. I like the “alcohol problem” lol

@Jking Lagavulin 16 👎 I regularly buy mine at Costco for around 80 a bottle. I know taxes are diff everywhere though.

Dumb question, but what type of glass do you all prefer with bourbon? It’s becoming my fav, and I’m going to invest in a nice stash. When I share with company, curious as to how to serve in a dignified way.

I drink everything from a Glencairn glass. Except tequila. It has enough of a bulb for cognac, and is perfect for all whisky. If your building your palette it’s important to have a consistent taste experience. I’d avoid the Norlan glass even if Jim McEwan endorses it as I personally know he actually tastes with a reidal whisky copitas. The Norlan is just too thick which affects mouth feel.

Glencairn was invented for scotch, and is the standard. Cheap at about 6$ a piece on Amazon. All tasters and whisky guys I know use it.

I use hand blown tequila glasses with no bulb... mezcal is still in the air and I can’t decide.

In light of the recorded atrocities in this thread I’m ok with it.

If it was a rare Islay I might start a fight.

I've had a Rusty Nail made with 15-year-old Drambuie. I had no idea there was such a thing; the bar I ordered it at was out of regular Drambuie but the bartender came out with a wild look in his eyes and seemed pretty excited to break into the 15. Ended up making it for me on the house cause it was an adventure for us both.

The drink was excellent

I’m in Seattle bud

If you're a fan of Scotch, stop by the Copperworks distillery in the nasty tourist district. They're awesome guys and their single malt is really good!

Experiences like that are the sign of a fantastic bar / bartender for me. When I was at Smuggler's Cove in SF we were chatting with the bartender about a new recipe he was toying with and he whipped one up for us to try on the house. That kind of passion is infectious!

Guys, what’s a great bourbon under 100 per bottle. I’m looking for a cherry vanilla type finish, rich.
Woodford Reserve Double Wood or Regilar

Agree. For posterity's sake, this was at On the Rocks in Hell's Kitchen. Small, out-of-the-way place but absolutely top-notch whiskey cocktails of all sorts. (It's not too far from Terminal 5 so can be a great place to grab a drink before/after a show)

So I know you asked for "great", which this isnt, but costco's Kirkland brand 7-year aged bourbon fits your flavor profile, is very tasty, and at $22/L you can mix it without guilt.

Tastes like Woodford to me.

I think the Kirkland is very good but it’s just shy of the richness of Woodford. Do agree it’s a go to for cocktails.

Woodford is unquestionably superior. But I have long had a suspicion that the Kirkland is essentially rejected Woodford product, perhaps blended with something else.

Old Fashion trial #1

Succes! 👍

Better make a second one for yourself to ensure the first wasn’t a fluke. 👍

Wait, it is definitely Buff Trace? If so, you have solved a major mystery that has been a subject of discussion in my friend group for years!
