A bit of a sweet tooth tonight so I made a Rusty Nail. One part Drambuie, 3 parts scotch (Lagavulin 16 yr).

Wha...? Mixing (mixing, I say) Lagavulin with Drambuie? Laddie, that’s what Ballantine’s is for! :whipped:

Lol, it’s all I have. If it makes you feel better, I usually don’t mix it with anything. 👍

In light of the recorded atrocities in this thread I’m ok with it.

If it was a rare Islay I might start a fight.

Poor underprivileged scotch lover. If that’s “all you have”, I’m definitely coming over for cocktails. 😜

Guys, what’s a great bourbon under 100 per bottle. I’m looking for a cherry vanilla type finish, rich.

I only buy good stuff, I usually make one or two cocktails a night and it’s my treat.

Bullies rye 😉
Blantons
Buffalo Trace.

Honestly Blantons is your best bet that might be sourced. Unless your in Orange County CA then I’ve got a lot of options.

FWIW, I admit to previously mixing single malt with Drambuie. It was Aberlour (a fine tipple at a very reasonable price point - at least here in British Columbia, home of the western world’s highest tax on booze). Like an idiot, I mixed colours; we had red wine with dinner. The night and entire next day did not end well.

@Foo2rama I’m in Seattle bud, was looking for B. Trace as it was recommended. I’ll have to find it. I couldn’t find it yesterday so I purchased the Blade and Bow...it’s good but a bit on the tobacco-ish side. Still makes a damn good Manhattan though.

Blantons Blantons Blantons. Did I mention Blantons?

That said, a friend brought me a 1.75L bottle of Eagle Rare. It’s quite lovely. But Blantons is far and away my favourite.

Ya, after dinner we like a bit more sweet. My wife has a glass of Reisling and I’ll make something with a splash of drambie or ammareto.

Bev my go to, I’m sure they have it but it’s a bit of a hassle with traffic. I went to a small mom and pop yesterday.

They ship... or I’ll pick it up for you and ship.

Largest wine cellar in CA and the largest selection of booze in CA. If 4 cases of a scotch come to the US they get one and the rest are split up. It’s like Disneyland.

I’m also enjoying Elijah Craig. Really nice.

If you’re ever in Vancouver (the bigger one!) I’ve plenty of bourbon to share. And fine Canadian rye.

Have you tried the Michters American Whiskey? It’s essentially bourbon but can’t be called bourbon as it is aged in used bourbon barrels vs new oak barrels which is required to be called bourbon. It gives it a sweeter and interesting flavor profile. And at under $40 a bottle (where I live anyway) it’s reasonably priced. That or look at the Col EH Taylor small batch which is around the same price. The EHT single barrel might have a bit more bite than you’re looking for.

And of course there is blantons as already recommended.

I’m picking up a bottle of EC12 Barrel Proof tomorrow. Good stuff.
