In the Clare and Barossa this week on a wine hunting trip for work ... what to taste first? (cleanskin is not yet released- will be labelled of course and is the most searingly fruit intense Cabernet Ive had this year) Likely to be in the $40-50 a bottle range ... if it had Penfolds on the label it would be $250...
Cragganmore 12, a new label (for me) found while exploring Schaffhausen...one with the right level of peat
Moving on from beer, got into this tonight. It's really good! Was concerned about it tasting a bit too much like bourbon (too much vanilla-y flavor) but not finding that at all.
I took a few bottles out of the cellar last week ... no, the week before last. Anyway, I'm home alone and today has a Y in it, so I opened this one: http://classicwinesofcalifornia.com/oldwebsite/closdeloratoire.html It's a 2011 and ... damn. I think I need to find some more of this. Huge wine with lots of berries and dark fruits. It's a wine that climbs out of the glass and slaps you.
