The Philbert is 1 of 500 or so bottles ( I now own 6 others.) Its a decent Cognac made exceptional if not untraditional by a Sauternes cask finish. The Borderies punches above its weight and is very very nice and highly recommended.

Really enjoying this. I'm new to Armagnac.

Cognac and Armagnac need smaller apertures on the glasses. But that's a nice pour!

I'll admit Cognac<Armagnac<Calvados. I Love the French Spirits but outside Louie Tre Cognac, Armagnac nuttiness has a special place in my heart eclipsed only by Calvados.

Ha ha the picture is distorted, but I've drank brandies from different glasses and have to say if I'm not being watched I'll choose a paper thin white wine glass like the one above with a small pour.
Had a couple drops of Tre the other night and thought, hmm, I probably enjoy the taste of a good Armagnac more. The single distillation gives me more of what I like.

Yeah Tre is what 60-100 distillations depending on the bottle. It's good... but unless you can get a decent pour on a fresh pallet under 150 it's not worth trying. Massively complex but Frapins high end at $500 a bottle is better.

All the French stuff needs a big bulb and narrow mouth to ditch the alcohol nose. A decent Cognac in a highball taste horrible, put it in a glen cairns and it's amazing.

Love Glen Garioch!

Ditto! .... a couple of years ago, I found myself here http://www.scotchnsoda.de/ where the owner, a flamboyant Scotsman came to our table and engaged my work partner and me in conversation...we talked about different subjects and then he brought a bottle of Glen Garioch to the table and said to us, if you can correctly pronounce the name of this one, the drink is on the house.... needless to say, we ended paying for the GG! 😜

A friend just gave me a bottle of this - never had any but heard it's good and somewhat hard to come by.

It's decent, not that hard to come by. $30-60 a bottle depending on where you get it. Although jokers on the Net are asking a couple thousand for it. It's loosely related to Pappy Van Winkle which USED to be the last stock of the old Stitzel Weller distillery. Pappy achieved mythical status for a variety of reasons and is now made to order by the same people that make Bulliet. This is a lower grade of spec made Pappy. My guess is not as wheated so it has a cheaper grain bill.

Enjoy it, it's very nice.
