I'm at 120 bottles of single malt currently in the non deep storage collection. The MAC and Glenmorangie are great easy to source Malts but you pay a premium for them, much like Rolex. Basically at the price there are
much better drams. Auchentosion, Ardbeg (peaty,) Bruichladdie!!! Are all better choices at the 40-100 range.

Do not like Ardbeg because of the peat, the auchentoshan three wood I'll have to give a whirl as that looks pretty good. Their Sherry cask has a fantastic color, I seem to really like stuff coming out of Sherry casks, but I'm not spending 1K+ for a bottle. I do have a Glenfiddich bourbon barreled 14 year at the office, this was my compromise with the guys that are drinking bourbon there when we are done with work.

Basically anything peaty is a non-starter and anything that tastes or smells like Johnnie walker.

This one is from another winery we visited while on vacation. Owned and run by a couple who fell in love with California after visiting a family member out there. Originally from Watertown, NY (not far from me and very close to my college town).

The winery is located in Trinidad, CA. We drove up Highway 1, drove 25 miles through winding mountain roads to hit a mudslide and have to drive all the way back and around. We ended up getting to the winery 4 hours later than planned and had a wonderful private tasting.

Intense cherry/berry up front. Big and bold to begin with, but not much follow through.

Sounds like a political party 馃槈

Looks like you didn't even give that mudslide a decent go... Young ones today 馃槜

I was all about doing some off roading. However I attempted to give it a go on foot only to sink in knee deep with my first step. The mud had the consistency and oatmeal. And I don't think this 12 passenger van would have survived either. (Pic from web) front-left-640-en_US.jpg

Another day at Prowein, found some superb Italian, Spanish and Portuguese reds, some good champagne too. Will likely have some of these in Oz in 4-5 months
