I use those glasses on good whisky and I drink it neat. But that policy applies to expensive single malts.

Opened a bottle of 2001 JJ Prüm Graacher Himmelreich Spatlese. Might be my favorite year for wine - excellent in Napa, Mosel, and very good in Burgundy. If the Loire valley had been anywhere near close with Vouvray, '01 would win hands down. 1995 and 2002 are in contention too.

JJ Prüm GH Spatlese? Not sure yet. It's a little more acidic than average, but has plenty of ripeness, so it could be really nice in a few years. The first year we went deep on Prüm was '07. By that time '05 was starting to get expensive because of speculation by collectors that it would be a fantastic vintage.

Thanks! 05 is really pricey for most wines.

French wines especially. I don't know if the First Growths and Grand Crus will ever come around to match the hype.

That's my wedding year so it's of special interest. I've had a few second to third growths and they are magnificent.

Aeropressed Costa Rican coffee since the work coffee is primarily factory floor sweepings.

Some Village level Burgundy is only starting into it's drinking window. I can't imagine how many decades it will take before the high end bottles will mature.

Factory floor and coffee - reminds me of when I started a job in the 80's and being the "new guy" I had to look after the employee suggestion program. One suggestion came across my desk to wash all the factory floors with coffee from the vending machines. It wasn't a joke, and the person had described cleaning up a coffee spill and noticed that the spot on the floor came up very clean when they were done... ::facepalm1::

Mind you the "Parnell" branded coffee vending machines we had back then were pretty much like mop water used on the factory floor, so it wasn't as big a stretch as it seemed I guess. And yes I rejected the suggestion on the grounds (no pun intended) that the coffee was not an adequate disinfectant...

BTW currently drinking Nicaraguan coffee - roasted locally by two sisters from Nicaragua who's family owns coffee plantations there (started by their grandfather) and imports their beans here. Great stuff!

Fresh off the FedEx truck from Hart Davis Hart:

    1986 Pape-Clément
    1989 La Dominique
    1990 Talbot
    1990 La Louvière Rouge
1990 JJ Prüm Graacher Himmelreich Auslese
    2000 Comte de Vogüé Chambolle-Musigny

Combine the first 4 with these from earlier purchases:

    1995 Clinet
    1995 Grand Puy Lacoste
    1995 Vieux Chateau Certan

..... and this winter will be a nice experiment with properly aged Bordeaux.

The Prüm and Comte de Vogüé are already winners at my house.

Gotta decide which to open first. Probably one of the '95s that have had a chance to settle from shipping shock. Let the games begin!
