My wife suggested we road trip to Peddler's Village in Bucks County. Kinda cool trip, good food, and a stop at Chaddsford Winery store. I figure you never know what interesting wines you could come across, and for the cheap price of a tasting ($8 for 7 different wines and you keep the glasses - most tristate wineries are around the same price) it's not really a gamble. We found a couple sweet wines we both liked that were not sickening sweet, with nice spice making them a little different.

Holiday Spirit: https://www.chaddsford.com/collections/sweet-wine/products/holiday-spirit

Spiced Apple: https://www.chaddsford.com/collections/sweet-wine/products/spiced-apple-wine

Best part - they were inexpensive to begin with and we got an extra 15% discount for buying 3 bottles.

On the way back we took the scenic route, using Washington's Crossing Bridge. Skinny with an all metal grate surface, I bet it's hell to ride a motorcycle on in the winter.

Susumaniello which I found at Prowein earlier in the year, and has finally arrived.
A variety I had not heard of before I tasted it ... quite amazing but not for the faint of heart at 15% alc

Champagne Bouche ditto above, visited them in Champagne too ... their 04 is primarily from Grand Cru villages, plus a tiny bit of fruit from Epernay and spends longer on lees than Dom Perignon ... a cracker
Le Mesnil, all Grand Cru champagnes from Le Mesnil - perhaps the best commune for growing Chardonnay in all of Champagne ... took 2 years to convince them we should be their Aussie distributor ... incredibly intense

Lino Ramble, local Mclaren producer doing awesome stuff in tiny to small quantities, 56 doz produced of their Bastardo, which I will open shortly, a few hundred cases of their superb nero d'avola, same of their amazing grenache (not pictured) and less than 700 of their superb shiraz...

For those single malt fans who are Costco members, I highly recommend this one. It is worth the somewhat high price (but $90 is not too high when you consider what "name brand" 25-year-old malts cost these days). Delicious!

These '86s should be perfect with Christmas dinner. Just let me know what time and where and I'll be there 😀

Bet those '92s are drinking very well now also. Sometimes the vintages that are not exactly blockbusters so therefore not sought after by collectors are very good bottles, and not nearly as ridiculously priced. That's my kinda year!

Finding really good less than "great vintage" high priced wines is the sign of a knowledgeable wine buyer-drinker 😉

👍

It's fun to watch the bidding wars over Burgundy from '90, '93, '99, '02, and '05 while I slip in under the radar and grab lots from '95, '00, and '07 for the minimum opening amount.

Exactly my collecting strategy!

We'll be starting on this bottle of sloe gin soon. The photo shows the colour quite well. This is the taste of autumn, pure bottled comfort to be taken in small doses. There's no other drink like it. Gordons make a feeble imitation but home-made is by far the best, though that's only possible in climates favouring the blackthorn. Cheers!

A favorite of my fathers. Always need to have a bottle or two on hand for him.

I've heard of matching your watch to your outfit, but matching it to your wine bottle? 😜

Paso Robles is on the rise again. 👍

Purely coincidence, however it could be an interesting thread "What does you watch match today?"

Paso Robles is on the rise again. 👍
We actually just booked a trip to California(mainly for wine) in February. My dad wanted to go to Paso Robles but it was too far South of everywhere we were planning on going already. I'm still waiting for the official itinerary 😗
