You've got some KILLER vintages of Bordeaux! Was the Ch. Beychevelle 1982 or 1882? (Hahaha - could be 1882 from the looks of that label! 馃槣) Did the Lynch Bages still retain it's pencil shavings smell?

What year was the Faiveley CdC? Recently tried a 2002 and it wasn't quite ready yet. Got my 2009's buried deep.

And of course, '07 is a favorite for Pr眉m in this house. Just drank a G-H Kabinett last week. 馃憤

This is what happens when a wine group doesn't see one another in a while.

The Beychevelle is an 1982 [emoji48]

Yes, Lynch has strong pencil shavings (and soy).

The Faiveley is 2010 and SUPERB!

I just updated the pics. The Barolo, Cos and Riussec are also excellent.

Here's the final lineup

It was definitely good. What you'd expect from a 100% pinot Champagne, has more depth of flavors but bright and fresh. The guy who brought it arrived late, so we opened it after a few reds, which was cool as it served as a palate cleanser.

Had dinner at a local restaurant and the bartender recommended a Canuck pale ale from Great Lakes Brewery. I quite enjoyed it. I am by no means a beer or wine aficionado but I know when I like something and this was one of them. I always like local when possible, and our controlled alcohol retail situation in Ontario doesn't always make it easy to get what you want in.

Amd not that nice, t'was a gift so mist be consumed but I can think of maybe a hundred spirits that are cheaper and substantially higher in quality

Testing out the new fangled Norlan whisky glasses vs the old standby Glencairn glass.

Verdicts out, pros and cons on each, amazing the difference between the 2. I've been using the Glencairn my complete tasting journey/career and I see benefits in the Norlan but not yet sold. I think this will require more testing.

The nose is more diffuse and the spirit is mellowed. I'm just not sure if I'm missing something in the flavor profile or my palate is just used to huge alcohol hits and that is what I am missing.

Jim McEwan of Bruchladdie ( the God of Scotch) says it's better then what he uses to taste but I'm pretty sure he uses a cupola glass for his tasting/mixing which is suboptimal in most situations, but I understand why he does use that for that purpose.

FYI if you use a lowball/old fashioned glass for Scotch or any distilled spirit your sorely missing out.

A drop or 3 of this
If
You like that check out Frapin. Better at the same level for less $$. XO vs XO etc.

Been meaning to pick up a bottle of Ancnoc.
24 year old is a bit of an overkill, solid range though, you can't go wrong with any expression. Don't get me wrong the 24 is great, just the younger ones are better price/performance ratio.

Will check it out thanks.

I reckon Armagnac offers wildly better bang for buck... and then there is Scotch
