Who would have thought that Oregon makes the best Scotch in the world? (Sorry Islay.)

The barley in that whisky is actually from Scotland.

A good dram nonetheless!

On a rainy day it's hard to say no to a dram of Scotch. Talisker 18 is one of my favorites. Excellent balance of smoke, maritime notes and barrel influence. Plus not crazy expensive like many 18yo whiskies.

Relaxing out on the veranda this afternoon with one my vintage Connies and a double Makers Mark.

I cracked open my Nikka whiskey last night. I dont think I have a refined pallet but smoky, fruity, peaty and powerful - hit the right notes for me (with a dash of water).

Far better than the Suntory NAS whiskies. Yoichi is absolutely delicious. Enjoy!

Last evening鈥檚 dram, one of the very few blended scotches I keep in the collection, as I generally prefer single malts. It鈥檚 very well done.

Recently Gimlets...

Made with this...

I'm usually a fan of very juniper heavy gins, but I have to say the citrus in this one is fantastic.

When I鈥檓 charge, PX octaves will be a requirement.
I have a strong suspicion there's some E150a in that bottle... Not that I think it really affects the taste or anything, I just prefer to see the true color from the wood in the spirit, instead of artificially darkening it.

I love a sherry finish as well, but my love of variety would be an impediment to making it a requirement.

Natural color in that one. Darkness is a solid bottling series.

Unless you've bought the bottle in Germany (where they are required to disclose it) how would you know? That's awfully dark for 14 yo scotch, unless it was finished in Brent Light Crude barrels. 馃槑. I looked at the usual haunts for lists of scotches that do and do not add coloring, but didn't stumble on Darkness. It's tough because they are a bottler, not the distiller. The distiller may or may not add coloring to their bottled product, may or may not add coloring to bulk sales to bottlers, and the bottler may or may not add color.
