What budget do you have? I highly recommend Nikka Coffey Malt or Yamazaki. My favorite Japanese whisky is Hibiki, but that is not a malt.
Thank you👍, budget would be up to 100gbp, I'd happily try a non malt, maybe the Hibiki as I know I can get it at the airport

Sometimes Hibiki is more overpriced at the airport compared to other Japanese whisky. You really cannot go wrong with most Nikka or Suntory offerings. I really like Nikka from the barrel, but it is 50% alcohol, I hope it’s not too strong for you!

EDIT
Actually it is 51.4%!

Thanks for the tip - I did try the Yamazaki which was also very nice and something different for me.

I'll keep an eye out for the Nikka, 50% is good, I like a cask strength offering😀

It is great value, it is my favorite Nikka along with Coffey Grain and Coffey Malt. I have not tried Nikka 12 and it is sadly discontinued now.
If you like you liquor strong, you should try Wild Turkey Rare Breed if you haven't already. It is a bargain especially if you are located in the US!

A “gin-a-cillin” :

Essentially it’s a Bee’s Knees, but this Caol Ila cask-aged gin has a nice smoky peatiness that brings it within a shout of a penicillin. (No ginger though)

My first Bishops Farewell.... but not my last. Very nice pint for a sunny UK bank holiday weekend.
I am not normally a golden ale or IPA fan - but this was very well balanced and rather moreish.

I usually go for Black Nikka if I’m drinking a highball that isn’t Kakubin. But when the Sunday Scarries are raging, Taketsuru is the only choice. Vatted with Yoichi and Miyagikiyo malts, and generally the same price as Nikka from the Barrel, it is really tasty in almost any format.

My favorite Japanese are the Hibiki Harmony, the Hibiki 12, and the Yamazaki 12 & 18 (when I can get it). All wonderful examples of Japanese whisky.

All of these are exquisite, Hibiki 17 is also great but sadly quite unaffordable lately.
