Alcohol sales ban still in effect and likely extended through at least mid-February, perhaps longer. Beginning to pull out some more interesting bottles from the cellar. Last night was this red blend from Stellenbosch:
Took the girls on an a walk, came back and my wife had margaritas waiting to pair with carnitas tacos for dinner. She took a picture and said “I took the picture so you can share with your online Omega buddies.” Don Julio anejo, Grand Marnier, Zing Zing margarita mix, splash of Orange Juice and salt/lime garnish, made with love. Best margaritas ever.
After a long week had a couple of Kloster Dunkel last night - first time I have tried this beer. A dark ruby beer which is actually rather light for a Dunkel and not too malty. They went down very well with a Chinese take-away. Happy weekend everyone.
Actually, the Chablis was « bouchonné ». But the Pichon baronne is great! I have decanted it - was a good idea indeed!
Tried my first Tucher Bajuvator Doppelbock last night. It was take out Pizza night (genuine Italian restaurant so a good standard - but a long wait as they only do take-out in lockdown). This beer has a good strength but was rich without being over malty. Went down well but lacked a bit of bite. Had a 'house red' - Jacobs Creek with the food which went down well. .
We used to drink beer with pizza but have gradually transitioned to northern Italian reds like this one.
We have snow (unusual for us) and I have a hectic / time poor week ahead. So toasting the end of the weekend with a cheeky Omar .. cant go wrong with this quality beer (wrong glass I know but I need the room for beer and wine bottles :0) Cheers everyone / see you in a week.
Confessions of a shitty American: Our benevolent rulers sent me hundreds of dollars to stimulate the economy (again), and I stimulated Scotland’s (again).
Tomintoul 10. I love the 16 - to me it is sublime. I also like Tomintoul Tlath. I will try and take a picture when I get a chance. I have the feeling that it is not to everyones taste though. I would like to get a hold of a Chartreuese VEP green for late nights.
we are not worthy https://www.strathspey-herald.co.uk...r-rare-bottle-of-macallan-60-year-old-225438/ forget about a vintage Speedy as investment!
« bouchonné » got me worried …. I nearly broke out the big guns last night.... but I am going to gamble for a few more years... I have not had vintage for a while and now I am thirsty again - Maybe an old 67 will bite the dust this year and down the hatch before it spoils. watches and wine and Whisky / whiskey … I will never retire at this rate and I blame the forum !!! looking at the bottles I must say there was more closure back then in more ways than one so maybe bon chance to avoid bouchonné :0) .
