I found this lurking in the wine cellar. It’s Saturday night, I’m on my own again (family are at grandparents for half term holiday) and I’ve had an arduous day sanding and painting furniture... so I’m opening this and waiting for sushi to be delivered (I had a LOT of smoked brisket and pork delivered last night, ate it with a crunchy red, got the “meat sweats” so need to detox tonight)

Good to detox from the pork - need to watch the meat sweats.... I recall from an old history lesson a certain Admiral Somers who died in Bermuda from a "surfeit of pork"... it seems you can have too much of a good thing :0)

So its been a good month with a few things to celebrate after a crazy year ...so although not huge champers drinkers, we are kicking back with a bottle before some nice food... and it is going down rather well - cheers everyone :0)

Omg I love that producer. It’s funny I went to a Louis XIII tasting and at the end people where more surprised at how good that champagne was.

For its quality it’s exceedingly affordable.

A very very young sangiovese rose from SA. Good body -- better with food than just sipping by the pool...

2013 Jim Barry Armagh. One of the most delicious wines I’ve had in a while especially with this nice Camembert. 375ml bottle from my cellar but I can tell it’s going to get a bit moreish when it runs low so maybe I should have gone for a full bottle :)

After an afternoon at the beach with Neo (the boxer dog), we are having a nice dinner at home, and we passed by one of our favourite wineshop in our neighbourhood to pick up a couple of bottle.

For pre-dinner apéro, a white and grey Sauvignon from Auvergne Rhone Alpes région in France. I tend to avoid Sauvignon as I find they are generally too fruity to my taste, but this one is really good, tannic and dry.

The red wine is a Roucas Toumba from Vacqueyras, South of France, Grenache/Carignan.

Working my way through this - the delicious Chateau Musar from The Lebanon... years ago I was advised to drink this whilst I could, as the vineyard was either likely to be banned by the Muslims or bombed by the Israelis. Luckily neither has come to pass, although sadly the great winemaker Serge Hochar sadly passed away in 2014...

Fruity, spicy, complex but elegant- thoroughly and highly recommended

Only £10 from Sainsburys in the UK – found this to be a very affordable / quaffable wine on Sunday night…

    Have you tried the 98?
Had a bottle of it laid down for a while but been waiting for an occasion to drink it this year. Might have to crack it this Saturday.
