Working my way through this - the delicious Chateau Musar from The Lebanon... years ago I was advised to drink this whilst I could, as the vineyard was either likely to be banned by the Muslims or bombed by the Israelis. Luckily neither has come to pass, although sadly the great winemaker Serge Hochar sadly passed away in 2014...

Fruity, spicy, complex but elegant- thoroughly and highly recommended

Chateau Musar Gaston Hochar is fantastic. Such a unique red unlike any other (I'm not as big a fan of the white -- it's too oxidized for my taste).

I learned of Chateau Musar when I was traveling regularly to the Middle East about a decade ago. Whenever I flew through DXB, I picked up a few bottles from duty free on each trip -- $20 for a 750ml and $30 for 1.5L magnum. An absolute steal. Loaded up on the 1999 (the vintage available at the time) and still have a few of them left in the cellar.

South African take on an Italian Supertuscan. Well-balanced with good fruit -- sour cherry and sage flavors from the sangiovese and good structure from the cabernet sauvignon. A pleasant surprise.

Lucky you, it really is a terrific red.

This apocalyptic waiting game for the election results is getting hard--but at least we were prepared.

Meursault wines are divine!!

Microbrew from South Africa's West Coast. Love the label design on this one. Perfect for a braai!

I miss South Africa :-(

Evening white wine, a rare Sauvignon from Bourgogne. It was lovely, balanced, dry but not as acid as a Chardonnay.

Disaster has struck.
Certain wines I buy I like to lay down for a few years and make a note on the bottle when to drink. In my haste to find a big red to go with my steak I cracked this without noticing the 2022 on it. ::facepalm1::
Still very nice though.

A couple rye and gingers last night by our Solo Yukon fire pit finished off this bottle of 10th Mountain Division whiskey from Vail, Colorado. Signed, numbered and dated - a nice gift from my friend and lead guitar player.
