$1.2m sale of The Macallan 1926 in duty-free is world record...………….
The luxury spirits retailer Le Clos has set a world record after selling two extremely rare bottles of the famous whisky, The Macallan 1926, for $1.2m in its store at Dubai International airport.

I missed this in the news last year...…I always like to spot a deal at the duty free myself.... maybe this was on offer (2for1 :0)

Rip the bottle on the left for anything other then collecting. Not thrilled about the one on the right either. The Angels has a wee bit to much share for a 1986 bottling.

Weird s#it in Cinque Terre... so I’ve been hiking all day- 25kms and over 180 floors climbed and decide to order pizza and a glass of the local and very good d.o.c. white (albarola, bosco and vermentino) and a glass of properly expensive Barolo too. No problem she says, pours the very expensive glass of Barolo and says she is closing the bar in 5 minutes and pours the white into another glass ... I said pet, I said darl (very respectfully) I said love, I’d rather not skull 2 awesome glasses of wine in 5 minutes, esp when you said I could order pizza so with apologies I’m going to leave you with the wine and find some food, if you are still open when I am finished I’ll come back and drink the wine... but she’s having none of that... so with typical Italian creativity she’s transferred the wines into takeaway coffee cups charged me just 5eu for wine which would have cost me about $70 back home and directed me to the pizza joint up the hill ... in her words, they won’t mind if you drink the wine there, you just look like coffee junkie...
Wines were both superb, pizza was bollocks

Coming up tonight with the Island Creek oysters that arrived last night: a pair of 2015 Champys. My wife and I have both always liked Rullys; the Pernand Vergelesses is new for us. I'll edit with tasting notes later, though my tasting notes are always a bit lowbrow and lacking in poetry.

Update: pulled the corks, and shucked the oysters. The Rully was as expected--the usual grass and mineral with a firm body. Not much oak. The Pernand Vereglasses was a big downer: burnt marshmallow. Not a wine to drink with oysters--at all. Actually, hard to think of anything that would go well with it--maybe a ham sandwich with bread-and-butter pickles? Or a smoked Turkey? Oh well--back to Chablis next week.

Saturday was a long planned Brexit party.. based around the Royal Armouries, a curry house and some old fashioned boozers (near the armouries just in case civil war broke out)…. Politicians might have moved UK Brexit but we honest citizens stuck to our plans.
What were we drinking.....Way too much (I must be getting old!)

Love this thread. So nice to see what other people like to drink.

I am normally not a huge fan of Beaujolais but this is pretty good.

Well that is the thing with Beaujolais, it is so light that you are actually allowed to drink it for breakfast 😁
