A truckload of wines at Prowein... 100 yesterday, 100 today including 6 varietals Id never had previously
Found a few corkers which Im pretty confident we will import into Australia, including one Italian producer whose family has made wine continuously in their region for the last 1000 years, quite amazing wine it is too
Another 100 wines tomorrow, then off to Champagne to meet with our producers there (via Chimay brewery)
Japanese pour tonight along with a pic of my stash. I don’t organize by cost, but by my preferences. Irish single pot still is obviously my fav as it’s all “top shelf” lol
Work meetings finished in Germany, I headed through the Netherlands into Belguim for a quick tasting at Chimay and picked up some of their awesome limited edition bottlings. Then meetings at Bernard Remy, Champagne Roger Brun, Le Menil (inc the 78 and excellent 92) and Champagne Bouche for a tasting of vins clair and the finished product. Now a couple of days off in Barcelona, on to Italy in a couple of days
I dug out some of my 30 year beer....I plan (god willing) to open these in 2047.....It is a nice drop now but I am told the secret is to cellar them and then you get something really complex....I am intrigued to test the theory and show a bit of patience for once :0)

Very impressive / some fine bottles. I love the way most people 'head through the Netherlands' and never stop for a croquette and some sour milk... It can be worth a shot :0)
Orval is mighty fine beer but im not certain it will last 30 years... if you have a carton, can i suggest opening one at 7 years rom purchase and then one every year after that until you reach a point where you think that the bottle you opened las year was ‘better’ ... then drink the rest of the case
no doubt the Netherlandshas many amazing things to offer, which sadly I know bugger all about ... on the work train... and following where work needs me to go...
Yes, I thought that would be testing the limits... I plan to open one every five years and take a view. I have seen tasting notes at 30yrs but it can go either way so you are right to suggest hedging my bets :0)
if you can keep them somewhere cool (but not in a fridge, too much vibration) and away from light, it will definately extend their lifespan)
