It’s not real ale, but an airport London Pride is a solid enough quaff.

I was rather late to the OF party. Unlike those who’ve traveled around the forum’s dial for years, I experienced but a wee glimpse of the sharp, witty and occasionally irascible personality of a particular rodent.

I’m unsure if Guinness is his thing but this fellow was spotted earlier today.

If you're in the UK,and have a Co-op nearby, get yourself down there to pick up a bottle of this. Absolutely belting bottle.

A wise man once told me never give tips on stock or wine…. you just might be wrong..... But I am glad you took the plunge. I stopped being adventurous with my basic vino choices a while back after way too many disappointments sub $15…but this was a corker (literally :0). I was a bit impatient with my first sip and it actually benefited from decanting and some breathing time. I am no connoisseur / this is a bit fuller bodied than I normally go for, but I found it a rich fruity wine with plenty of body and a deep finish…It went very well with a good steak on Sunday… Cheers :0)

A truckload of wines at Prowein... 100 yesterday, 100 today including 6 varietals Id never had previously
Found a few corkers which Im pretty confident we will import into Australia, including one Italian producer whose family has made wine continuously in their region for the last 1000 years, quite amazing wine it is too

Another 100 wines tomorrow, then off to Champagne to meet with our producers there (via Chimay brewery)

These were all, at worst very good... Gatz clearly the best, not too malty and with great balance ... malt balancing the quite high bitterness perfectly

Alt bier is particular to Dusseldorf and is pretty much my favourite beer in the world, elements of amber ale, red ale, black beer, pilsener, lager and ipa... it is top fermented, giving it fruitiness but fermented at coolish temps and is given extended lagering or conditioning prior to release... making it crisp... end of the day it is complex and difficult to define ... is it an ale, a lager or a pilsener ... yep it is all of those, is it creamy or textural or tart, yes to all 3... is it fruity or dry... yes... creamily malty or bitter ... again, yes on all counts

I finished the last one of these at Xmas..... exceptionally good. UK law makes it hard for a private individual to sell alcohol....so a good excuse to drink it :0)

Japanese pour tonight along with a pic of my stash. I don’t organize by cost, but by my preferences. Irish single pot still is obviously my fav as it’s all “top shelf” lol

I am proper envious (in a nice way)… what is the collective noun for whiskey......a convivial of whiskies perhaps. How do you get on with the Teeling?, It had mixed local reviews but I liked it.

Thx. In my opinion the Teeling is a solid pour, but nothing stands out. It’s a great value, and I have the single malt offering. I would repurchase. I like the brand, they are doing a lot with various finishing casks, and have many options as you know.

Arbeg Drum, 2019 committee release. Rum cask finished Scotch. I love this pour, but hate most Smokey and peated Islays. The nose on this is bbq’d bananas and smoked pineapple lol. Thick and oily with brine, rich and sweet smoke on the taste.

@alam I found a peated Islay I like.
