Will the 57 Speedmaster clasp fit on the Forstner flat link bracelet

I have a snoopy coming at the end of the week and plan on getting a flat link bracelet for it. My plan was to get the 57 Speedmaster bracelet and use the Forstner end links but I’m wondering if I could save a little and get the Forstner bracelet and just use the clasp from the 57 bracelet. Anyone know if this would work?

Not sure what the Forstner tapers to, but there's also the Apollo 11 50th bracelet, which should fit (you may need Forstner/US end links).

I've kind of idly wondered if the clasp from the current Seamaster heritage will fit the A11 bracelet. I recently saw someone swap that clasp onto an AT (on reddit).

If you're curious about the A11 50th bracelet, here's where my research took me. My local watchmaker with an Omega parts account said it was orderable and placed an order (I believe list price was just under $800, so not cheap)

Looks like in the top thread, someone did fit a '57 bracelet with forstner end links. Some good alternative options there.

Also wondering if the A11 bracelet would be compatible with the new 3861 clasp....

Will it fit? No. Could it be made to work? Maybe. I removed the Forstner two-button clasp so that I could install a regular pressure clasp. One side came off easy enough as it uses a spring bar. The other side, not so easy. I used a Dremel and metal bit to hog out enough material so that the pressed pin could be removed. The middle link fit perfectly in the gap on the pressure clasp's folding links and I pressed a pin back in there to hold that side together. The other side went together with the spring bar. In short, compared to my new Seamaster, the Omega clasps are attached entirerly different than the Forstner clasps.

Suppose that by now you have the Snoopy and the bracelet; did you ended up using the 57 ends or US / Forstner ?

Am looking to buy the same bracelet for my black 3861

FWIW, the only clasp I’ve found which is a plug-and-play fit to the Forstner flat link is the 1162 (Speedy Mark II, I think).

Yes, without the two-button clasp, you can easily fit most clasp covers of appropriate size.

This is actually the entire clasp, not just the cover. But I agree, there are probably a number of covers that would fit.

I fit a 1162 folding part to a Contemporary which comes with a button clasp. Not a straightforward affair. I chose because it looked like it'd fit and was readily available. I then put a vintage cover on the 1162 folding parts. The used 1450 I just got came with a pressure clasp and used the 1162 cover on it: direct swap.

Does anyone knows if the Speedmaster 57 clasp can be retrofitted on the 50th anniversary by itself or if something else needs to be replaced (recall that on the Chronoscope clasp retrofit on the 3861 bracelet an additional part was needed for it to fit properly.

It only works if you transfer it from the bracelet, ordering only the clasp won't because the connecting link is not included as I've been told by @watchstick_81 on a local forum.

I was under the impression you could order the proper end link as well?

This is the clasp without the link, don't know if it has been added later or there is a separate partsno. for the link

The part marked in yellow below is the one that cannot be ordered? That does not makes sense as it’s a wearable part. You can order those clasp end links in other Omega bracelets (have done it for the adjustable clasp retrofit on Seamaster’s, Speedmasters and a Planet Oceans).

I am fairly certain that you can order it, I swear I remember reading somewhere that someone actually did this and made the clasp adjustable. May have been on TRF... maybe if Archer sees this he can chime in with part numbers.

Good idea @ErichPryde 😀

@Archer :
Can you help out in providing the part number highlighted in yellow below (clasp connecting link)? The bracelet is the one from the Speedmaster 57. The bracelet end links are labeled STZ015952; the clasp model is 117STZ015404. We are trying to find out the part number and if it can be ordered from Omega to retrofit the clasp with push button into the 50th anniversary bracelet reference 020STZ011626.

Thanks!

Francisco

Archer will have to see it, he never checks his alerts! 😀
