Alternate bracelets for the 3861

Apologies. Yes. The Rising Sun bracelet fits the 3861 Speedmaster perfectly fine. It was just a bit “chunky” for what I wanted, especially in contrast to the bracelet that comes with the Speedmaster.

The local Boutique was unable to properly fit the bracelet from the Apollo 11 50th to the Speedmaster 3861 so they ordered the bracelet for the ‘57. Once it arrived, the Boutique installed it without issue on the Speedmaster 3861. I had already ordered the Forstner end links and installed them myself. I am happier with the Forstner end links.

But I’ve been wearing the Speedmaster on straps more often than on bracelet.

I would love to try the new 3861 bracelet. So fwr I am using US 1171 and Forstner flat and updated flat. Not bad at all,tbh. The original 3570.50 bracelet I find too heavy,bulky and the end links are too prominent.

can you confirm if you are using the OEM omega spring bars and not the Forstner supplied ones? Also, from your pics it looks like the Forstner ones still extend beyond the end of the lug by just a smidge… is that right? Obviously it’s far less than the 57 endlinks though.

Yes! Great question! In this YouTube video OP shows the different bracelets that fit on the 3861:

In the video he says you need a skinnier spring bar to retrofit the rising sun bracelet to the 3861.

I went ahead and ordered the spring bar he suggested. But if it’s not needed I’d be happier using OEM spring bars from Omega

I used the spring bars from the Speedmaster 3861 with no issue.

The Forstner end links aren’t exactly flush , but a far better fit than those from the Speedmaster ‘57 and more than acceptable to me.

When I had the Rising Sun bracelet on my 3861, I used the spring bars that came with the Rising Sun bracelet.

is the part number definitely correct as 0020STZ015403
im about to get my local AD to order this as i have a 71 speedy with original flat link bracelet and am always worried about wearing it ,
im scared it will break one day and lose the whole watch when im out
this being genuine omega with adjustable and branded clasp is perfect replacement rather than the aftermarket stuff that is about and keep my bracelet in the box for safekeeping

Great thread! I've placed an order for the bracelet as well (0020STZ015403).

Anyone try fitting this on an 1861 with Forstner endlinks?

lol. Answering my own question. Fits perfectly on an 1861 with Forstner endlinks. Fit/feel is a 10/10 plus it has the micro adjust. Forstner would be an 8/10. I think the OEM links are a bit thinner as well.

You need the Frostner 20mm (post-2021 Speedmaster) end links for the 50th bracelet. It works perfectly.

Do you have a picture of this setup on a 3861?

Also; for anyone who has worn both the current (as of 2023) 3861 bracelet and the Apollo 50th, how do they compare?

Is someone able to confirm this is the part number for the apollo 11 50th anniversary flat link bracelet (0020STZ015403)?

Also, please confirm, I need to order the Forstner 20mm flat link end links to make this bracelet fit perfectly on the new 3861 Speedy.

Thank you,

Bracelet above is correct. And yes the Forstner flat link end link is perfect.

yo georgiadawgger, you ordered these Forstner endlinks- https://forstnerbands.com/products/additional-end-links-for-forstner-flat-link-bracelet

and coupled them with the A11 50th anniversary bracelet- on your 1861 speedmaster, and it all fit well? I just picked up a 1863 and am considering doing the same thing.

Thank you!

Edit: another thread on the Rolex forums suggest that the hollow Uncle Seiko and Link will also fit perfectly with this setup...

So I bought a Forstner bracelet for something a bit more chunky. But since then I have slowly grown to really like the standard 3861 tapered bracelet, especially since adding the on the fly adjustable clasp. I have just put a Forstner on my 145.012 to save the vintage bracelet. I am very pleased with that and the solid end links (photos attached) I added an Omega clasp just for the aesthetic. I do therefore still have an unused 3861 Forstner bracelet in the UK if anyone wants to buy it (photos attached). Drop me a PM.

You can use:
The apollo11 50th end links with a 1.6mm spring bar;
The Apollo 11 50th end links with a slight modification to the end link;
Uncle Seiko (hollow) 20mm end links
A Forstner solid end link (not sure which ones for the 1861 case)

I used the uncle seiko links for a while, they fit just fine but the finish was almost imperceptibly different. I decided that the downside to attempting a modification of the stock endlink was minimal since I wasn't using it anyway. The result is better than with either non-OEM link.

Thanks for the reply. So would you say the Forstner end links are a better match or should I jar try modifying the original omega endilinks? And how and what would you need to mod on them?
