why was the ebay/value thread locked without explanation?

Perhaps it's time you went to one of those other forums where the moderators never randomly ban you for saying something they didn't like. 🙄

If someone finds out why the thread was locked, please post it here, I'd be curious to know, just so I can better understand the rules. I didn't follow this particular thread religiously, so I'm not sure if something strange was happening, but it seemed roughly similar to eBay sticky threads, e.g. in the Longines or UG or vintage-Omega sub-forums. Is there something we should be avoiding in those threads?

I have to agree that OP could have worded things a lot better. However give the guy a break, he’s just frustrated that his thread has been locked. Let’s not run him out of town just yet.

I quite liked the thread and also interested to know why it was locked.

Peace and love everyone.

Ditto on no ads. Sites with ads drive me insane. Damn I hate ads. Praise be to the Mods.

sorry,....i'm not here to give tutorials on how to build, grow and maintain websites. it's obv that most of you don't have the first inkling on it.

also,...the people that extrapolate a few things i said and to ignore the main premise of what is said is also a big joke

i thank everyone that have gotten behind me, there aren't many of you. and it's obv there is nothing that you can do about it.

you can see the mob hate and discord others bring into this thread. it's nothing more than personal reasons, grudge or them thinking it's funny at my expense......these peeps didn't even know this thread existed, now they're giving each other wrap around likes to something of no concern to them....

congrat's....you win....the thread locked,..pio lost..you can go out an riot now..only i'm really not the one that lost here
Wow, go sit down and have a drink of something and calm down.

life is too short to be such a grump.

the site is free, its interesting and informative and all it asks is that you play by its rules

which are pretty easy going.

basically don’t be a dick

Maybe I’m extrapolating my own interpretation of the OP but isn’t he basically asking, “what are the rules?”

I once had a thread inexplicably removed. It was kind of an unnerving experience as no explanation was provided when it happened. Like @Dan S I like to know the rules so I can play well with everyone and participate on this forum.

I think the OP started this thread with a bit of a tone (as many here can have) but I think he took it a bit personally as he was really scouring the-bay and sharing out a lot of interesting stuff (some not so but who am I to judge) with the collective and was invested in it- many of us were joining in and it was fun to hear the commentary and collective joy when someone snatched a good one up.
I personally think it’s up to everyone to do their own homework on an eBay seller and if someone here shares an interesting watch being hosted on a public platform, it’s not incumbent on the poster to completely vet it- ‘c’mon, we are all experienced watch shoppers here.
In terms of locking or removing a thread, I have been part of several that have vanished (recently) or have been locked as the topic may have crept into incendiary territory or someone shit the bed.
The Mods don’t “owe” any explanation as has been mentioned, it’s their turf indeed. But this particular thread, many of us thought was a fun and lighthearted and unless there was a sinister plot underlying that we were not privy to- then it would be “nice” to know what policies were violated so we don’t repeat them in the future.

I also was very much enjoying the thread—and wonder what rule was broken to warrant the thread lock.

You joke. Although I am highly tempted to do a yard sale post, here there are tables if who wants and how much you want them for.

I also enjoyed the thread and appreciated the effort the OP put into his searches. I also agree, I wouldn't consider it the responsibility of the OP - or OF for that matter - for flagging interesting sales that ended up being dodgy.

I too understand that we are guests here and that the host pays the bills and makes the rules. I am at peace with this.

When one starts a thread one makes an investment in time and when one husbands the thread over time, one may become attached to it. The bigger the investment of time, perhaps the greater the disappointment when one logs in one day and finds it gone. It would be unusual for an OP not to be a bit upset.

If one can avoid going down the path of making an investment of time and trespassing in the process, it would be helpful.

“Recommended good value” is probably the wrong wording for the Title of the thread.

If it’s not the responsibility of anyone to actually verify it is a good deal.

Without repeating others too much, I love this forum, the mods, and community. I also loved the thread @ploNeErOfThEnle created and all the hard work he put in to it. I understand his frustration, but agree he could have been more diplomatic. I also wish there was more explanation as to why some threads get shut down when it is not so obvious.
