I remember on my first trip to the US from the UK in the 1990’s I affectionately called someone I didn’t know very well a ‘Twat’. Turns out that word carries a lot more weight over the pond, some quick talking was required to prevent a broken nose.

Similarly, giving someone a gentle pat on the fanny would probably yield different outcomes depending which side of the Atlantic you come from 😉
