Why The Speedmaster X-33 Matters

The hands show T1 only, the UTC is for reference and T2 for secondary time like that T1 is always visible whatever you are doing with the watch.
Thank you very much.
Fun fact: now I've read properly, and the guide indeed says it: "the hands continuously display T1 time - T2 is not displayed with the hands".
Tx again.

ref. Skywalker, not Gen 1 & 2

Hello everyone!
I don't own one of these X-33 but I like the Skywalker, and some day I might pull the trigger, who knows?
In the meantime, as I always do, I'm doing my homework...
I've read the instruction manual and I'm ready to use this watch, with all those buttons and functions, but there's something I'm missing.
Probably, I didn't read the manual carefully enough.
My question is: when i set UTC and T1, how can I set the analog hands to show UTC or T1? I mean: do the hands show only the UTC? or I can set the hands to show T1 (or T2 if I like it)?
Thank you.

You read the instructions before you even bought the watch…..😲

Answer to the first part: yes I have (I was afraid that it needs to be a scientist with more than two degrees to operate it, but fortunately it is not so complicated)

Answer to the second part: LOL!!!!

LOL she’s reached the space station +100 days ago, and she’s not heading to Mars, so definitely she can’t wear a Marstimer

PS I secretly love our #AstroSamantha

Very true...they had to test it though, right? I just think it's nice to see a true Omega in space...!

X-33 Speedmaster made for IVA activities...
Russian cosmonaut in August 2022; this might be our last chance to wear some watches on an EVA before going home!
Russian ISS EVA 54: both Oleg Artemyev & Denis Matveyev wore their Omega X-33 Speedmaster strapped over the forearm of their Orlan-MKS space suit...

Question: has anyone had any problems with the digital LC display using sunglasses with polarized lens?

And by the way, reading the instructions pages, I found something interesting: it seems that Omega has solved the "backlight issue"* with the new iteration of the X-33, the Marstimer.

* I don't own one of these, but it looks like the backlight only lasts 5 seconds then turns off, which is disappointing when setting functions in the dark.

BUT... I noticed that the instructions manual says something different about it (see picture below):

On the Gen. 2, as long as you “operate” the watch (eg, start chrono, check different functions, etc), the backlight, stays on. After 5 secs of inactivity, it indeed switches off again.

X-33 will always matter. I will never get rid of mine!

Oh! I didn't know you had one of these, too!

Please, Can I ask you if you have a Skywalker or a Gen. 1/2?

In case of Skywalker (I'm interested in this one) have you installed a micro-adjustment clasp?

What's the ref. for clasp and end-links?

The question is open to answers from everyone.

I have the Gen 2 X-33. It was always my dream to own one, & finally was able to source a complete set!

Earlier this year when the azaleas were in bloom

25th anniversary passed very silently: First official operational use of the Omega X-33 Speedmaster analog-digital chronograph
1998, January 23 - space shuttle Endeavour mission STS-89 = 8th mission to the Russian space station Mir.
Two months later, cosmonauts Musabayev & Budarin presented the Omega X-33 Speedmaster during a LIVE Press briefing as the " Mars watch "
NASA received 23 X-33 in October 1997...

@SpeedyPhill Just curious what you consider the "first operational" X-33 to be? I guess, what makes it "operational?" When do you say testing stops and "operational" begins?

The screenshot notes STS-75 flying the first prototype which is correct. Do you not consider that the first "operational" flight?

On STS-89 Michael Anderson wears an X-33 prototype. Does a GEN 1 fly as well?

As for anything aeronautical, Operational means tested and approved, cleared for operational use after tests and trial in operational environment 😀
