Why Invicta sucks?

If you’re considering invicta as a beater, it might be a good choice. I found an invicta I bought in high school for $85 (it was $435 originally so my high school self thought I was getting a steal). My cousin asked me about how tough watches were and I figured there is only one way to find out. I basically just grabbed the watch and smashed it on the corner of my bathroom countertop about 15 times and it never broke. Still works today!!

Darn it after reading that I tried it with my Patek Phillipe and now it won't run at all. Should I ask for a refund?

If an Invicta is somebody's gateway into watch collecting, that's great. If they stick with Invicta, that's great also - more watches from nicer brands for the rest of us!

Personally, I'm not interested in their offerings. They seem to specialize in vulgar monstrosities and unremarkable hommages. I was on a cruise ship where they offered Invictas by the truckload. It felt like watching a never ending series of car crashes.

Only Invicta I took any notice of has been the diver that resembles a Rolex. Not a bad looking watch. The rest of their line is just too pimped out for my tastes.
I've read good things about their diver watches. Only real objections to those are that they look like a fake Rolex, not that anyone with eyes couldn't tell the difference. I think I'd sooner have a Vostock Amphibia though. Don't really need either, I'm unlikely to be going into the water in the future unless I drive off a bridge or get caught in a flood.

Perhaps it is because Invicta postures and Seiko does not?

Hah! That just proves that there's posturing ...

... and then there's posturing.

For anyone in the UK they are the Mike Ashley of the watch world. In fact i'm surprised Sports Direct don't stock them

The Elon Musk edition is a transformer watch. It unfolds into a Tesla then explodes .
You only get to wear it once.

they just put a boutique in Houston and it was interesting, the moment I stepped in I was immediately offered 3 free watches if I bought 5... lol

I went in a Invicta boutique in a mall years ago and they had some sort of similar "deal." I wasn't familiar with the brand so had stepped inside. For some reason I have a recollection of a decorating scheme all in bright yellow.

If a person doesn't know "come here from sic 'em" the "deal" might be attractive. As it was, there wasn't a single watch in there that I was willing to wear out the front door.

real talk:

why is it okay to make fun of invicta but not seiko?
I don't understand why you have such a disdain for Seiko, of course I am a diehard Seiko fan so I will die on that hill and be buried on it, but Seiko's most popular models and designs are for the most part unique to Seiko. Grand Seiko, the entire design language is quite precise and laid out. The long line of automatic divers all share quite a bit yet each version moves it along. The Seiko 5(Invicta money) can get you a fake Rolex vibes with the Sea Urchin, but there is a lot more changed in the design along with a inhouse movement, better quality, power reserve, handwinding, and etc.

I appreciate the variety of hands they use, even including a pair of hands that look almost human . . . near the bottom in the photo . . . just above the rocket engines.

speaking of rockets. i appreciate this version of rocket man
