This would go in the "Tweet a picture you can't explain." group.

..........People think it is a steal every time they buy one because they "retail" for thousands and get sold for 70-90%......They are fashion watches being paraded as luxury.

Yep, you covered it all in those two sentences.

They are tens of thousands that think this way....

They are what they are.
If it weren't for the perpetual BIG DISCOUNT most people interested in watches wouldn't notice them except as a cheap banger.

The better Invicta's come with Swiss movements, ETA 2824-2 or Sellita SW-200, sapphire crystal, see through case back, diamond numerals, 40mm dial, decent stainless steel Metallurgy, 200m water resistance. As good as most, better than some entry level Swiss watches. Looks are a matter of taste.
Most of the "good" ones are limited editions, such as model # 3824. Decent Swiss "starters" for those on a tight budget but still want some quality.
MSRP is pure fiction, shop around for real price.

Appeal is subjective.

Would any member of the Forum be willing to commit to a modern Invicta model that he feels is attractive and post a photograph of it.

Or, would this thread die for lack of participation.

Now I'll commit to saying that I like Jiminoz's vintage Invicta.

My colleague at work likes Invictas and I try his on. These are LEs I guess. Both of them weigh more than a pound each.

if the $50M in annual sales (in 2010) reported here is accurate, I would not say the Company thinks their products suck at all...

I'll find one on Amazon, so long as it qualifies for prime shipping. Unfortunately the '200 meter' options that usually would indicate utility for recreational scuba all come with a disclaimer about 'surface' water sports and no diving. Have a 15 month old so no big dive trips planned any time soon but will see how it can handle the pool and hot tub.

I don't care about killing a cheap watch but going to be hard to explain it's presence in the Amazon cart. Telling her it's an experiment for the forum will probably be digging a deeper hole.

Hanging out in the non-pointy end of the donut factory with Speedy Gonzales...reading about Invicta in the Complete Price Guide To Watches...good times! 👍

Nothing like wearing a watch the size of your head.

I bought this as a beater but my wife stole it. Now her co-workers are looking up Invicta on Amazon. Ladies like the fashion watches. Not bad for $90 CAD.

Have been searching Amazon for an appropriate model. Narrowed to some autos with either the Malaysian-made (says on the "exhibition caseback") Seiko NH35A (perfectly adequate, although I prefer the Miyota 9015) or slightly more expensive models with the Sellita SW200 (essentially the ETA 2824). All the watches cost less (NH35A) or slightly more (Sellita) than what I pay to service my vintage watches, so cost a non-factor. I'll let folks following this thread decide, then find some excuse for my wife when the box arrives.

Looked for vintage model too, but very few choices and I have so many vintage Longines that I really can't justify the rather bland examples I found on Ebay.

Aren't Invicta and Accutron associated these days, somehow? I had an Accutron back in the day. It was "decent" and certainly looked/felt nicer than any Invicta. Unfortunately, it seems Accutron has gone the way of the fashion watches, last I saw. I admit, my sampling has been sparse.
