Who nabbed this 105.003-65?

Spend some more time on this new acquisition today...

Starting with inspecting the watch in detail. Still leading me to believe that it could be a relume, but if so, it is an older one... It is tritium and does glow briefly when exposed to UV light. Regardless of that, the dial body and printing is pretty spotless.

And, much to my surprise, found out that the wrong bottom pusher (which is driven in) has the exact right dimensions to be a 105.012 (fat neck) pusher. I suppose we won't be able to get it out in one piece, but let's see anyway... A correct pusher has already been located.

Then, it was off to get the scratched polished out of that plexy and gently removing a whole lot of wrist cheese. Producing a pretty satisfying result.

Of course I couldn't resist, so, on an Uncle Seiko bracelet it went for a trial wear:

And an obligatory wrist shot before it is off to the watchmaker in the next week or so to obtain a service, correct pusher, different minute hand and perhaps a genuine Omega plexy. This one seems aftermarket as it came without an Omega logo and what appears to be a glossy rehaut. I quite like the look of that, though, so I might decide to keep things as they are.

A short update on this one... It's been at the Spa for a while and went through some changes.

- Correct pushers mounted
- Correct plexi (black rehout) installed
- Hour hand re-filled with lume
- Movement serviced

And, some might not like this, the case has seen some treatment. The large ding on the lower left lug has been welded and brushing re-applied. Whilst disassembling the watch, it also became apparent that this example has previously had brushed upper-lugs. Probably done some time earlier in its life at a service. That's been redone very lightly, as I like it.

Here it is now:

And put on a nice JLC (ex. Porsche 356 upholstery) strap:

I did not need another reason to buy yet another strap, but this is pretty cool!

There's only 80 of them produced (total of 19 and 20 mm, with or without racing perforations). The leather is amazingly supple and the craftsmanship is very good. I believe they haven't yet sold out. 😉

For me, this would be the right level of 'wabi sabi'.

Better images will have to follow later. 😀

Just because I'd been tracking this one from the start: thrilled to see how great it's turned out, and huge congrats, @Aludic, on a really lovely example. Well done.

Did you also get the Porsche strap? I'm loving mine and looks great on a Speedmaster (mine is on FOIS)!

Looks great.

I'm on a search for a nice 'Ed White' - let's hope I can be as fortunate as you. 😀
