I think in the mid sixties to early seventies Certina had three lines of dress watches. blue ribbon, Bristol, and Waterking. the cases look very similar, automatics are often /allways build with the inhouse 25/65X movement. I hope one day vintage-certinas will do an article about the different dresswatch line. There are a lot of classics in the Certina lineup!

My only Certina is this lovely modern 7750 movement. It's boxed because I'm ready to move it on; nice watch for the office but that's something I no longer do. tmp-cam-1881131415.jpg

Love the jumbo vintage Certinas! Both 37mm.

I really like the look of Certina Argonaut chronos from late '60s to early '70s, both panda's and reverse, but haven't been able to see any in real life and I'm reluctant to pull the trigger to buy without seeing how the square case wears for me. The photo is from Andee at Rarebirds from 2016.

Interested in your opinions about them.

I had one, sold it after a day, because of the case shape, bought a new one, at the time it is with my watchmaker-you need to try it on your wrist to know if you like it, case shape feel a little odd at that size. But it is pretty slim in height for being a valjoux 23/72. And on bracelet it is a lot better.

Did you find the case too large for the wrist or, was it more that, with the round dial inside a cushion case, a lot of metal looks back at you when you read your watch?
Agree, they look good on a bracelet.

I have one so in some way i like it:), but it is a little of in symmetry, but its better if your wrists are big, i have small wrists so it isnt a perfect fit. If the dial was a bit bigger it would have suit the case better. Pardon my english:)

Really, really great condition! The DS dials tend to patinate fairly heavily so such a clean one is unusual. Also unusual is the golden hands/dial furniture

I just got my parts DS in the mail:

Got the bracelet cleaned up reasonably and put on a more fitting watch:

It has a lot more heft that is for sure! The GF fits beautifully on the slimmer, earlier DS' though. Hope there's room for both, I have two of each :)

Vintage Certinas pretty much fly under the radar price wise. A lot of potential for beginner collectors. I would start there if I were to begin today.

    Got these:

Not so much under the radar (and a radar would actually pick this one up as a battle ship size echo) but still cheap compared to lesser, and more expensive, divers watches...

This one is a good example of a nice "as found" vintage Certina that can be bought for small sums (and this one was for free):

No longer mine but a nice Certina. I sometimes miss it. Quartz - a nice one.

Here together with its big brother.
