Well, there is that lume plot for you to transplant :p

Okay, here the new arrival is:

    WP_20180310_15_42_16_Pro.jpg

Really sharp case, no turtle, visible engraving on the back points to a 1960 production... Some lume loss on the dial, but otherwise very well and evenly aged. Original GF bracelet w/ "X" end links and a recent service mark in the caseback. Runs, wind and sets beautifully. Comes to me with more than a little help from across the border - @mr_yossarian got it from a German seller and shipped it to me. HUGE thanks to him!

    I am well chuffed :)

The other bracelet I have has DS-marked end links, but in the Gay Freres End Link Guide, it is mentioned that X-end links are found on Certinas. I'm pretty sure it isn't a put-together watch, but who knows really :)

    Great numerals on that DS!!

My latest pickup, a Certina Certidate from the 1950s which houses a cal 28-451. Beautiful watch with an amazing build quality... :)

This thread led me down the path.......circa 1966 Certina New Art. 25-651(m) movement, monocoque/unibody case, and came mounted on an interesting all stainless Fischer bracelet. The crystal has suffered some kind of heat or solvent damage, and will be replaced.
Now I have a grail Certina to find: The UFO Commander Straker Certina Certiday Automatic TV Dial 5901-173.

I don’t have many Certinas (2), but I like them. Mine are both from the 1950s, and are the Kurt/Certina 25-45 and 25-451 movements which I particularly find to my liking. The one shown is cosmetically the nicer of the two. Before anyone gives me a list of its shortcomings, i’ll List what they are. This watch was bought at a farm yard sale for $2.00 (she was asking 50 cents). It was a farmer’s watch and had been rode hard and put away wet. The chrome on brass case was badly worn. The dial was a mess after moisture got at it. The movement was in surprisingly good condition, requiring a new rotor post, a new mainspring, and reconditioning. The case isn’t the best as it has been stripped to the brass and re-chromed. The dial has been refinished (Kirk Dial of Seattle, now Kent Wash.). The crown isn’t right, the rotor post and mainspring have been replaced, as has the gasket and crystal. The movement has been serviced. Good runner, and I like it, a lot!

I thought of posting this in the "Unique watches and complications" subforum, but since Bill already broached the subject of Electric Certinas, I reckon it will fit here:

    WP_20180404_17_13_24_Pro.jpg

A 1972 Certina Biostar pocket watch! Capable of showing time and date as well as showing your biorhythm - probably one of the weirdest complications on a vintage watch. Very much a child of its time, the pocket watch style is rather odd... Can't imagine these selling much in the seventies.

Too bad that Certina doesn't have the following that Omega or Rolex does. We could have a bunch of members with AvaTurtles.

Just ran across this video when checking out another post on this forum:

The watch used in the test at 1:51 of the video is identical to mine.
