Which is the most desirable DON colour here? And do you have others to show?

I like brown ...
...but ghost is a bit far for me.

All in all, I think everyone should go with what speaks to them. If it's in character with what the rest of the piece looks like, all the better.

I'm not a Speedy hoarder so I'm probably in the minority but if you have one good Speedmaster that you're satisfied with, it's much better than a bunch of middle of the road bezels or watches.

Might already be starting. I think one sold on eBay last week for around 拢450 GBP.

The black bezel looks like nothing out there - it's a mix of something. The 7s look like those on modern bezel. Dots and no 脠 look like those on Dot-next-to-70 bezel. But the 2s really stand out from all of the known ones.

The font on the 8s was the thing I noticed. Correct me if I'm wrong here Spacefruit, but the tall tachymetre DN90 bezels from this era would usually have an asymmetric 8 (with the lower ring of the 8 larger than the top), wouldn't they?
Greyed bezel below is perfect.

Going to have to go with black as well...ghosting reduces the functionality for me. Not saying that it doesn't have its merits, but just not for me.
Functionality? You mean one of us actually has a clue how to use the bezel?????? 馃榾
Gotta go with ghost faded blue-grey myself. Just screams history and character!

As to the legitimacy of the bezel I showed. There is little evidence of a quantity of fake bezel inserts

I must admit that until now I have not examined the bezels so closely. The value of them has not been an issue until now but it is going to be. And so what might have slipped past me before, cannot continue. Are there non OEM similar bezels out there? I want to find out.

My knowledge is all based on observation and conversation, and as such, I am always open to learning new things about these watches.

These bezels need further, deeper scrutiny. I need to learn.
I hope to enlist the forum members help:

I have a very humble taste:

no blue, no green, no brown or whatever tropical, no ghost...

just give me a vintage stainless steel base 1000 and I will be happy 馃槤
