We had this discussion over the Thanksgiving holidays with friends and family at the dinner table. Soon, an iPhone photo contest ensued, where everyone started going through their photo albums to one-up the other. So, I figured I'd open it up to the forum and see what the response will be, given we have representation from every corner of the world. For me, it's plain and simple, I had the great fortune of visiting Alpe di Siusi, Italy in 2014. It was as close to paradise as I have ever seen, it's definitely a must-see for anyone that enjoys the outdoors. The people, scenery, weather and most importantly, the food was exquisite. There was lots to do, whether you like skiing in the winter or hiking in the summer. It's close in proximity to Austria and the closest big town is either Bolzano, IT or Innsbruck, AUT. I highly recommend driving, the scenery is one you will never forget and offers you a great sense of the mighty Dolomites. Some of the other honorable mentions for me are Cinque Terre Italy, and Key West, FL. Love to hear about more hidden gems around the world!
Back home. Always special trip going back for visit. Not the prettiest city, but to me it is perfect and most beautiful City in question - Belgrade
I agree. Been there a few times myself, as far as big cities go, Rome is definitely on top of my list as well. The culture, archeology and history is one that is not easily found any where else in the world.
I'm not sure that beautiful is the right word for the Vatican museum... In my mind it's quite simply staggering. Wealth and power unimaginable, and that's just in the bits you are allowed to see. I was numb by the end of it. Nero's 40 foot wide porphyry bowl was a highlight for me - priceless 2000 years ago!
Of course, the Trevi fountain! A must see in Roma, I nearly had my pocket picked there...quite memorable indeed.
The red rocks of Sedona Arizona are pretty impressive... (thanks) ...As are the rocky coasts off Acadia, Maine: (thanks) The fog rolling into the Great Smokies at dusk is a sight to see... (thanks) ...as is Yosemite Valley: (thanks) I only wish my poor photography could match the images above...
