I recently read some old watch magazines I had forgotten about, and I stumbled across this Rolex ad from 1967.
It says : suddenly each watch tries to resemble this one.
Experts will notice it is a gilt 5513.
HAGWE.

There's no other way to put this: I'm Ayrton Senna.

The whole Imola thing was just to get out of a contract with Tag Heuer. Always had a soft spot for Omega.

Needed an avatar years ago and swiped my XBox icon. Later I realized that his jaw was appropriate for my initials JAW. Been using it ever since.

That's quite all right, Uncle Buck. I'm no biker (riding bikes hurts my bum-bum, lots of potholes and stray cats where I'm from). I don't presume you watched Eurovision a couple of years ago. I'm the Polish contestant that came 7th. Though I wouldn't blame you for not remembering someone that didn't even make the top 5 or wear a pink speedo on stage. Anyway, I did become some sort of a regional celebrity in my country. And it just happened that Tag Heuer was looking to expand its market in Poland so they asked me to advertise for them for a few złoty. I thought why not? I'll get the money, move to a new village, and buy me a nice life. Next thing they asked me to do a photo shoot, you know the sexy kind where I'm wearing nothing but a strategically placed Tag (usually on my right wrist if you're curious - I'm left handed). The whole thing went south when I saw the pictures. The Tag just didn't look right so I staged a boat accident in a lake named Imola down in Texas, faked my own demise, and got out of the whole thing.

And what sort of disease are you speaking of? Acid rolex? In my village, we only see scurvy...

Will Farrel and Sacha Cohen are two of my favorite comedic actors. Their characters are so irreverent.
I like any comedian that can make me laugh without even speaking.

I’ve only changed mine a few times but I stick with a New Orleans theme since it’s where I live and 2 of my 3 sons were born uptown. My current one is of the New Orleans street tiles that are embedded in the sidewalks all over the city with the street names (see one from bourbon street below) spelling out Nola which is a common nickname for the city putting together the abbreviations for New Orleans (NO) and Louisiana (La).

"Nobody goes there anymore, it's too crowded".
"Wherever you go, there you are".
"Cut my pizza into 4 slices, I couldn't eat 8".

Yogi was a classmate of my Father-in-law, Garagiola was a year or two younger, Jack Buck lived on the same block, my relatives a block over.

If you don't know baseball or history, you don't have a clue what we are talking about.
Yogi Berra. Went to the World Series every year but two of his playing career. 1948 (Cleveland) and 1959 (White Sox)

MoonwatchUniverse logo ... Speedy on a 1960s Moon globe was a fitting symbol to start sharing my collection of NASA photos online, especially since Omega stopped bringing out interesting documentation (e.g. their Speedmaster The Moonwatch book , published in 5 languages dates from 1994 ... 25 years ago )

John Candy has been my favorite comedic actor since my brother introduced me to SCTV back in 1980.

I was just a kid then but immediately fell in love with John and his delivery and he was the only celebrity who I felt heartbroken about when I heard he died.

My brother used to do a great Johnny LaRue impression; he died seven years ago and I miss him like hell, so the JLaR avatar was a tribute to John, my favorite character and now my brother.

I figured the IRS would have no interest in an army sergeant called Bilko.

When I first joined, after lurking a few months, I didn't know what to use for a name. My cat was next to me that day and I stoled his name. For the next few days I used a pic of him as my avatar. When I bought my first Omega I used that for a while. I started to notice that lots of people were using famous leading men like Newman and McQueen as avatars. Also, at this time I read a post where someone said he could immediately recognize a poster by the avatar and knew who to read and or skip just by that. So, I decided to stop switching and find my forever avatar. We were not very well off financially as a child, so I seldom went to the movies. We did have a black and white tv however and I loved the show Perry Mason. Paul Drake seemed so sauve and debonair in a 50's/60's sort of way. He was the king of tv cool to me. So, I did a Google search for a pic of him with his watch visible and lucked into this one of him behind the wheel of his '57 T-bird. How cool is that!!
