Somebody in the past thought the best way to service it was to cover it in copius amounts of WD40 like lubricant.
A 10 minute ultrasonic and then into my Elma Solvex. Now all clean and shiny.
Just need to put it back together. Wish I had a tech guide for it 🤔.

·This was on my bench yesterday. My 55 year old, one owner (me) Rolex Air-King-Date. Only ever serviced by me over those decades. It was due for servicing.

·No pictures, but I have THREE Seiko 6106 based watches in various stages of disassembly on my bench. One is ugly enough that it'll probably end up as a parts watch, other two are gorgeous! I've already had a successful 6106 so it'll be a matter of getting the others cleaned/off my bench.
Though NEXT up are:
1 A seiko bellmatic 4006-6040. I ALSO have the case/dial/etc for a 6010 that I'll have to decide if I like better and swap the movement for. The 6040 has an integrated bracelet, which I'm not a huge fan of.
2- Omega 166.019: This is a 601 I've posted before with a bad dial and some missing parts. I've been slowly acquiring all the replacement parts, so this one might be ready to finally disassemble.
3- Omega 2635-1: Bumper 351 that doesn't work at all, but I haven't dug into.
4- Omega Cosmic 166.023: 565 based one that isnt' keeping time/stopped after a very short amount of time the ONE time my wife wore it 😀
I have a handful of others I could get into, but my hope is that after I'm done with those 4 (+3 on bench!) I'll feel up to digging into some chronographs 😀

·Sorting out a return today, well the reverser wheel had failed after I sent it back.. Thankfully I could find a new one.

··faux legendThis little Lemania military style watch has been on my bench for a while. It seems to have the S27 movement, but the other examples I found online have 17 jewels, not 15 jewels like this one.
I need to get a new mainspring for it and find time to work on it, but I’m not in a rush.

·Started on this Seiko Bellmatic! Parts are on order, but got it stripped down and cleaned today! Lots of work to do, one of the more complicated ones I've worked on so far! Seems an order of magnitude more complicated than even a ASchild 1568 despite the same complications!

·A tiny Certina 12-10. My mum managed to shear its ratchet screw, she may be 81 but I wouldn't challenge her to a thumb war!

·This, later. Runs face up but not face down! Broken staff? Bumped? Dropped? Not by me, but it has been handled by others over the years, during our annual pocket watch shows.
