Apologies for reviving an old thread.

This model was my first Omega purchased last month for £1200.

It was an impulse buy after being taken by surprise of the quality of a Rolex GMT2 which was given as a gift. I was into watches beforehand, but figured I'd take it up more seriously and invest more for better quality pieces and so, after receiving the Rolex, I purchased the Omega months via a blind ebay buy (with returns as an option).

My first impressions weren't good. The bracelet felt extremely tinny, so too did the clasp and it just didn't shine as much as a close photograph. Upon wearing it, I was quite surprised to be able to feel the rotor. The torque is quite prominent. It does not feel solid. After a few hours indoors, I realised that it was impossible to read the dial at a glance see the time due to silver on white. I need to tilt it towards a light source and read it from an angle.

I decided to keep it for a while. The return was no longer valid. I consider flipping it, but after wearing it outside and fitted with a nice 2mm light tan Nato strap it's looking very nice. The rotor motion has become part of me and a reminder of the analogue working of the mechanics and I've somehow just grown to love it, almost as if it was screaming when it heard it was going to another home. Quite a phenomenon. It shone more in light and just seemed to look better in general. I feel it's something you need to grow into.

A blue dial version clearly wouldn't suffer the same problems in legibility.

I think, price wise, I had expectations which weren't realistic and upon reviewing everything (and myself), I think it's a fantastic piece. It was going to be traded in for something else, but now it's a staple and I'm proud to own it:

You won't get a lot of love on this site for it, even being an Omega forum. I have two of them, both black and have been thinking of selling one, but my kids will have to sell the other one because I love the look. Traveler is right, you can feel the rotor when you move, but I like that too. It should have a Valjoux movement.

The price is high, you should be able find these on Watchrecon for $1,500 to $1,000 all day long. Without box and papers closer to the $1,000 side. Keep in mind coming from a brick and mortar store, they have overhead to cover so $1,800 might not be a bad price. Plus you can touch it and get a better idea for the feel of the watch. If they can prove it has been recently serviced, that makes the price better.

Good luck! Mine is one of my favorite watches, which is why I bought the second.
Awesome advice

Opinions from 5 year later count? Still don't like it...
Had one. Can't read the dial out in the sun.
Cheers.
