What is / would be your One Watch Collection?

Okay I couldn’t do it, I’d need a beater too. A Vostok or something similar that I could confidently wear around my 2 year old. Since those aren’t really in my “collection” maybe I get a pass there. Anyway…

If I could have only a one watch collection I’d want a nice ‘69 Speedmaster. A watch I don’t have, and likely won’t ever have. Now, I could sell all my current watches and probably pick one up but… I don’t have to just have one. So I’m content with 5 to 10 vintage Omegas and a 2254.50

The PP 5711 would be my choice if I was only allowed to have 1 watch… intemporal design and made to resist every situation. If you forget the the price it’s the perfect “beater”…

Neither of the bezels being aligned at 12 puts my OCD into overdrive. Solid choice(s)!
Thanks. The lower one is actually aligned, it's just at an angle.

heh nope, I'm wrong. I'm really terrible at alignment. I can't tell you how many times I set a watch a minute fast or five minutes fast or even an hour fast! That the bezel is somewhat off, least of my worries. 😀

The number of times I’ve looked down at my watch and it’s been exactly an hour off… lol

One watch does not a collection make.

If the situation is changed to: "House is on fire, everyone's out, and there's one split second to grab a single watch and no more." then without hesitation it's my 2017 Explorer 1, my youngest son's birth-year watch.

I definitely adore that watch, even though I haven't given it a lot of wrist time lately, as my tastes have changed. But that watch, more than even the ones my dad left me, is priceless, and I have to make sure I get my son, myself, and that watch to a point in the future where giving it to him is the appropriate thing to do. I'm 52, and I think about this kind of stuff all the time.

Everything else can burn, though I'd have much sadness for what would be lost.

In response to the OP's initial question:
Seamaster Pro 2531.80 or midsize 2551.80 if you're of a slim wrist like me.
Rugged enough for the beach, scuba diving, rock climbing etc yet refined enough for wearing with a suit at a nice restaurant.
To quote a workmate: "If it's good enough for James Bond, it's good enough for me."

I would go back to my old faithful- been with me 20 years, my first nice watch and daily for over a decade in semi-annual rotation with a Speedy.

It gets little wrist time these days as I have so many choices, but it has been to the farthest reaches of the US and subjected to some of the most extreme conditions, and never missed a beat. It’s basically an extension of me.
