Thanks for the sharing. Im interested in the first one, but the caveat here is whether they want to post it to Asia. As long as the transaction is held in a mutually safe way, I'd like to discuss further.

If you are really interested think well and I can try to buy it myself and post it to you after that. But please check pictures well because other member from here more educated than me tell that it's no so good.

Your analysis is impressive. Thanks! My questions is :what rotor rubing imply? Lack of maintenance?

Is a common problem on these and when it happens, usually, means that a service is needed. But i can't say, technically, what is the problem...

I agree with your assessment of the world economy, though I live in the land of the bubble, San Francisco. A gauge I use here to understand where things are heading is the amount of properties being purchased with cash versus mortgages. A lot of seven figure properties here are selling to cash buyers. During the 2008 crisis many people here were overextended with jumbo mortgage payments that they couldn't afford when the bottom fell out. Real technology seems to create real wealth. The economy is cyclical by nature so we'll see what happens and how it effects vintage watch pricing. I'll leave you on this; the last watch that I sold locally, a clean Omega Seamaster 300m ref 165.024 from 1968, was to a guy in his early 30s that worked in investment banking. He pulled out a wad of cash and our deal was done...

Sorry for hijacking a watch thread with my ramblings!

One of the consequences of the unprecedented asset bubbles that have been created by central banks over the past 10 years is that many, if not most investors and collectors have been lulled into a false sense of security in terms of rising values. Unless the biggest debt bubble in the history of the world can be resolved without another major economic crisis – and good luck with that – the values of the vast majority of assets, certainly including collectibles, will deflate.

Focussing on vintage watches, it is of course true that there are other variables in play, and that the best and most desirable models will hold value during economic downturns better than others. But those who believe that values that have been inflated, at least in part, by CB-induced stock and property values, will not come down when those major asset bubbles burst, are in for an unpleasant surprise.

In the wake of the 2008 crisis, does anyone truly imagine that the values of even the most coveted collectibles remained stable (let alone increased)?

I understand the appeal of Polerouters, but is there something intrinsic about them that was just discovered a year or two ago, catalyzing a near-doubling of values? The answer is no. And while fashion is an important catalyst of vintage watch values, I wouldn't count on it to support a price trajectory that is dubious to begin with.

May I pick your brain...?

How about this one for 500$? It's on eBay. Wrong second hand and crown and rotor rubing. What if I replace them with NOS polerouter hands(now 150$ on ebay)? Although i can spot the flaws, I still cannot do math. Or is restoring basically a bad idea to consider? Please educate this pathetic but passionate soul 😀 thanks!

You can buy a seconds hand, an original crown and pay for a service. But then you still have an heavily polished and corroded case.

Are my lens dirty or are missing bits of metal on the case?

You gotta be patiente, don't take shortcuts, they won't lead where you want.

There are a lot of Polerouters in good conditions out there, who knows you can find one in the price range you feel confortable. Meanwhile, If prices go down, as @Tony C. believes, then you only need to wait to grab a good Polerouter in your price range, if don't, and you don't find a good Polerouter in your price range, then take a look to other models and/or brands.

Btw, did you seen a Certina DS lately? Terrific watches very undervalued these days (you can buy two in good conditions, on bracelet, for the price of an average Polerouter) but it seems that is starting to change, better grab them while you can

Thanks for the teaching. I like the Quoted expression.

I like DS diver and think about snatching used one for ~300. Do you think DS is worth its price for any models? Or do you have a certain preference for a model?

I'm not the right person to advise you on Certinas but i bought these two (the one on the right has a wrong crown, i know), last month, for the price of a Polerouter:

So Tony's marketing is working? Corner the market, start plugging the model on OF, sit back and make the monies. Well played.

Tony, sorry people are giving you such a hard time. I don't think you're playing games. Thank you for turning me on to Certinas.
