What Is More Important?

Whatever you decide on, consult a good architect on how to furnish the bathroom. Not an interior designer or something, a proper architect with sound knowledge of ergonomics etc. We have a 4m2 bathroom as our only bathroom in the house and it has never felt small, isn't crowded with two people using it and we don't get in the way of each other.

Still haven't made any progress or real decisions on this.
Insurance is being insurance and taking their sweet time lol.
My contractor actually reached out this morning asking for an update. I suppose we can go ahead and start moving forward.
But we did want to get an idea as to how much we'd be getting from insurance as it may be a factor into how much WE want to spend hah.

And 3 month later....it finally starts!
We ended up scrapping the original plans. We found a way to make the bathroom bigger, and keep our room the same size, we just sacrificed a small hallway that let to our connected garage, and are moving the door to the garage to another location, one that actually makes more sense anyway.

New layout vs. original layout.

What it was…

what is is right now…

So it will be long(er) and skinny. Really all we could do. But it should be a huge improvement.

I have to say that photo of the original bathroom looks very small. I'm not surprised you were willing to give up space in the bedroom to make it larger, but glad you found an alternate way! 👍

Yeah It is/was pretty small. My wife and I could stand in there at the same time but we'd be dancing around each other to get to the sink.

Well since some of you were slightly invested in this I figured I would give you all an update.
Just a few days over 4 months later, I finally took a shower in our new bathroom this morning lol.
4 months it took them! What was supposed to be a 4-5 week project (I mean I knew it would be longer than that) took 4 whole months.
I don’t fully blame the contractors, but they didn’t really make things better.
Anyway here are some pics. Still got to finish a few things like shower glass that is due in in a week or so and paint the wall over the sink and a few other things, drawer pulls for the vanity. But it’s a bathroom!

Now I can hopefully go buy my Tudor GMT before the wife starts the kitchen!

I have a similar bathroom size and layout as your old bathroom, totally impractical for a couple to use. I cant understand how house designers ever think that the space they provide is sufficient for use.
How does this new layout and extra space work for you? obviously its less claustrophobic than the original and has a far more modern look.

So far so good! We doubled the size of it and we have plenty of space to move around.
Like I explained, we were not able to make it any more wide but obviously were able to make it longer.
We decided to rotate the vanity 90 degrees into the corner in an effort to make it feel a bit more open as well, and I think it worked.

if you have plenty of closet space, and only sleep in without too much "entertaining" then i would go with a comfortable bathroom that could accommodate 2.
I live in a small house with my 3 kids with only 1 small bathroom, it sucks!

That's what is known as 'being on Omega LE delivery time."

It turned out really well. We went with the same marble you have on the walls when we redid a bathroom a couple years ago; it looks nice.
