What is driving up prices for some models?

Yes but he may be asking why the demand for certain models? I think some of it has to do with media hype. If Hodinkee writes about an obscure skin diver from the 60’s or a relatively unknown chrono from the 1940’s, the demand and subsequent price increase will double over night. Once the value goes up the demand will continue to follow. People want to get onboard a model whose value is on an upward trajectory.

Interesting- I feel like I have been living under a rock.

@Killian-FR - I do have an Instagram account.

This is the largest watch that I have. I have had it for over 15 years - I think I wore for a few days before the minute hand came off. It is in pink gold.

However, it is not from the 1940s. I expect that it is large art deco style watches that are increasing in value.

I still need to work out to improve my photo skills - the watches look terrible compared to in person

@Fost - Wow. These are beautiful. Oversize 1940s watches with deco dials must be pretty rare.

Another picture - I think this one is a little better. One day I shall get it repaired. I measured it- it is 36mm.

Indeed you can find plenty of vintage watches for sale on Instagram. Of course you need to be more vigilant than ever to vet the seller. If they balk at your request for references etc., walk away.
