The more I see the watch the more it grows on me, by the time that Omega gets round to announcing the SS 321 and 50th Snoopy, my piggy bank might be empty, if i'm going to consider those watches I need to stop looking at the A8.

I do sympathize with these "problems"!
I currently have the SS Apollo 11 50 on order (paid in full), hoping to get the Moonshine gold one instead (but will I be able to give up the SS??), just added a plain vanilla hesalite Speedy yesterday, liking the Apollo 8, the X-33 skywalker AND hoping to get the Apollo 13 50!!! 馃槻

Jeez. Completely #SpeedyCrazy!! 馃え

Certainly glad that I gave up on any Rolex lust (due to SS shortage AND will NOT feed the flippers) and that I am not in the game for the newly released 321 Platinum (perfectly satisfied with my vintage 321, but damn, this is a beautiful watch)!!!!!馃槻

I just need to take a loonnnggggg vacation away from this site, or any watch site for this purpose!!! 馃榿

nobody really talks about it, the few on the second hand market are all sitting I asked my ad if I could order one and they said it is discontinued and not able to be ordered. Was this piece a major dud by omega and they dumped it already?
I completely love my Apollo 8. I picked on up at scottsdale's OB. The guy that sold it to me said Omega was going to make it in very low quantities or not at all due to the difficulty of making the dial. If you guys can, try picking one up before they're gone

As far as the general public goes, there is Apollo 11 and then everything else. You have to be a Space Program fan to recognize Apollo 8 for it's milestones. First manned spacecraft to leave Earth's orbit, first to orbit the moon. Jim Lovell was the Command Module Pilot and he went on to be Mission Commander of Apollo 13.

I think Omega limited production only in part because of difficulties making the dial. More likely they didn't see a big market for the Apollo 8 watch.

It's one of those watches that you really have to see in person to appreciate. It's a big sucker, but as they say, wears small. And I have tiny wrists.

Wearing it today.

It's an awesome watch.

Am I right in thinking getting this serviced will be a nightmare?

Why would you say that?

I had mine serviced under warranty, took about 3 weeks.

I wouldn't expect any difficulties, it's essentially a basic 1861 tarted up with special surface finishing. Shouldn't flummox any competent repairer, and Omega Service certainly won't have any issues working on it.

You should choose your service provider for this watch wisely. Either Omega directly or someone who has an Omega account and has access to the proper documentation, so they know what can and can't be done with this movement. Cleaning it the wrong way could be a disaster, so even a competent watchmaker who doesn't have access to this information may indeed be flummoxed by this movement, and end up with a very expensive problem on their hands.

Hey everybody I'm new here and I just bought my first Speedmaster "DSOM apollo 8", I'm completey in love with this watch and dont think I'll ever get over it.

The funny thing is I never really liked any of the speedmasters that were available at my dealer, and I always thought that I would never end up buying one because it always felt like I had to settle if I wanted a speedmaster.

but everything changed when they showed me the dsom Apollo 8, my jaw literally dropped. the design was so different to any other speedmaster, the dial is intricate and detailed, the shades of black, grey and yellow reminded me of Batman for some reason lol.

The only drawback was the rather large dial size for my smallish wrist, I dont generally go larger than 42mm, but surprisingly the watch is quite slim, lithe and comfortable.

Congratulations. It is a lovely piece. The case is large but it wears fine on small wrists since it is all black and fairly thin. The strap will soften with use and the watch will wear even better. Just don't force the strap to bend downwards. The leather covering the rubber insert is quite thin and will crack. 馃槖

I know I was thinking of purchasing a back up leather strap, because I love the yellow accents in them., also I want to get a bracelet for it but I need to find the right one, does anybody have recommendations? I've heard people combine it with the Omega's mesh bracelet.

Hi everyone,

I'm in the market for an Apollo 8 and availability seems to be reasonable: found a few that are in stock in my area and have been told that the order window is about 4 weeks. Anyone have recent experience with AD and if discounts are being considered on this watch and how the pandemic is affecting this?

Thanks

Was offered 5% and 4 years interest free with 10% deposit in Liverpool last week.

Remember price is going up around 6% on the 1st of September

Not a bad deal considering the forthcoming rise

Thanks for this, just got back from purchasing mine. No financing deals but able to get 8% so I'm pretty happy. Can you elaborate about the price increase in September? Why are the prices going up 6%?

Congratulations!

it is speculated that price increases are happening due to the devaluation of various currencies across the globe.
