What dress watches do you have/recommend?

I have a simple rule when it comes to a dress watch. KISS......Keep it simple stupid. Elegant but simple.

That's actually (part of) the definition for a dress watch. It should be made of precious metal, uncomplicated, and thin. If you search for dress watches, you'll find that words like "elegant", "subtle", and "understated" are frequently used to describe them. Date windows, totalizers, moonphases, even second hands, are not necessary. That being said, I think there are plenty of people who would make an exception for the JLC Master Moon the OP asked about. That's a NFW. If it were 37mm or less instead of 39, I'd own one now - and I have plenty of witnesses to back me up!

I totally agree with all of this. I guess we are old school, because in today's casual as can be world and I'll do whatever the f##k I want generation, or the those rules apply to everyone but me asshats, the watch of choice for dress has definitely changed to whatever goes.

That Salmon 1946 JLC is F'ing gorgeous!!!!

My wife certainly thinks so. That watch was fresh out of the box from restoration at Le Sentier when that photo was taken. I haven't seen it much since then, except on her wrist.

JLC does some phenomenal restoration work. You might want to try the "old bait and switch" with her........for the watch!😜

Won't work. She knows enough about watches to spot any kind of clandestine subterfuge. I wrote it off as a loss through matrimonial attrition.

Wait, I've scrolled up and down like 5 times but I didn't see your Speedmaster? Surely this is an accidental exclusion...

Well, when you do see it, get a ride to the eye doctor's office. 😉 It's a sure sign you need your vision tested.

Maybe a CAT scan too. 😜

Eyes are fine, just lacking a bit of focus is all.

And that's a serious collection! I wouldn't even have enough formal occasions to get through these guys in 2 years.

Dress watch? I love this one. Slim, WG, 36mm, and slips easily under a cuff, great for black tie events.

Plus it has that killer guilloche...

That's some funny shit @Mad Dog! I have several Speedies and THEY are AWESOME! They are elegant and simple in their own right, as far as chronographs go! Your post has my vote for post of the month!
