What dress watches do you have/recommend?

I've been eyeing a dress watch (not too too dressy, however). Thinking maybe a Jaeger LeCoultre Ultra Thin Moon. Would love to see what kind of dress watches my fellow forum members wear. Maybe I'll change my mind and get something else instead. My budget is around $8000 so feel free to recommend. Something elegant but wearable to slightly formal events other than weddings. No gold, nothing against it, just not my style.

Will you wear white gold? I think this recent Omega release is beautiful.

Hard to beat the MUT Moon as a dress watch.

It has the most comfortable deployant strap I’ve ever worn.

    Two recommendations:
    1) Buy pre-owned if you can as JLC does not hold its value well from new (they tend to sit on the market and you should be able to find for $5-6,000).
    2) The newer ones have a more attractive rotor design - I have an older one and it’s my only point of contention with the watch.

Have you had a look at any Pateks? Some nice watches they have. If not stick with omega

Pretty vast gulf in terms of pricing between an Omega dress watch, a JLC and a Patek....

That’s like someone saying they were looking for a sedan, mentioned Lexus and Audi as possibilities, and you’ve asked if they’ve considered a Rolls Royce.

Further to my post above, here’s the original rotor design:

And the later design, which I prefer:

I would! This is indeed a beautiful watch. I don't know why but when I think of Omega, my mind usually just goes straight to the vintage watches.

I have not. I just assumed they'd be over my budget to even consider.

Thank you, I'll keep that in mind. I was considering getting a brand new MUT Moon but I'll keep my eye out for a used one.

A few months ago, I tried on the Master Control Triple Date Moon Phase in white gold. It was used with an asking price of £10,000... one of the most incredible dress watches I've ever tried. You're spot on with the depreciation, though. New, that thing was closer to £30k. (Really shoulda bought it, but I was also toying with a VC ... in the end, both sold).

I wonder why they depreciate so much. Is that the case with most high-end dress watches?

    Looks pretty fancy to me.

One thing about the OmegaForum, you can use colorful language without a moderator getting up in your business. I almost feel a George Carlin moment coming on.

I like that Omega. That Yaeger is pretty fuckin sweet tooooooooooooooooooo

This is a great watch. Don't own one but did try it on a few months ago. Most JLC Master with few complications should be great dress watches. The black dial version I gorgeous.

Excellent choice. I can’t think of a more elegant and understated watch with superb heritage, value for money and quality. Versatile as well for casual wear. Plus you can wear it in hot or inclement weather without worry. Moon is a fun complication.

JLC master triple date moon used would be what I go for in that range.

The globe master maybe. Can’t go wrong with a DJ either.

@cicindela the GO’s seem too busy and big to me. Great watches though.
