I've worked in TV Research, Field Operations for 30+ years out of college, and have seen and met the continuum that makes up the "general public" over the years. More interesting than being stuck in a cube at work.
I grew up during the 60s/70s space age and have collected a couple vintage tvs. This Panasonic Orbitel and it's swivel legs, reminds me of the aesthetic of The Prisoner. And a UFO...

Reminds me of the early Philco Predicta TV sets on a stem.
Interesting! I did my graduate degree in late medieval and Tudor history. My current teaching load is mostly the AP European course. Glad to see a few fellow historians here.
Hah, brilliant. I used to grade the AP Eur Hist exams for the College Board. The things the students sometimes write were both excellent and terrible, especially those who hadn't prepared very well but were stuck in the room for three hours and had to write _something_. My three personal favourites:
"The most powerful monarch of the early-modern period was Oliver Cromwell, King of all France."
"Travel by sea became much easier after the invention of the boat in the 15th century."
"That's all I have to say about the causes of the American Civil War, but since I have an hour left, I'm going to spend the rest of this essay explaining why Bill Russell is the most overrated player in the history of the NBA." NB: the second part of his essay was _much_ more convincing than the first.
as in a former Red Leg? 😕
