I’ll start.

Mortician and Pilot. In both cases, I’ll be the last to let you down.

Go!

If you don’t mind me asking how are you guys able to maintain calm when the poop is hitting the fan. A super fortress was doing tours at an airport not far from me, unfortunately it crashed. Almost made it back to the airport but didn’t work out. They played the audio of the pilot talking to the control tower as it was going down, the pilot sounded like he was having a normal conversation. Very impressive remaining calm in such a time.

Software engineer. Work equally with well with web applications and databases. Graduate student working on a Masters degree in Data Science at Johns Hopkins University. I find the program to be quite challenging. Working through Computational Statistics at the moment which is mostly theoretical, not computational.

Thought I was well prepared since I have a BS in Physics and MS in Applied Math. Turns out that Hopkins is a different class of University than the University of Florida. Way more challenging.

You must be referring to the B-17 accident at Bradley...training and experience...rely on your training and experience.

To be honest, I initially thought you were referring to maintaining calm when the poop is hitting the fan regarding being a L.E.O...and let me tell you...L.E.O.’s need to make much, MUCH quicker [and accurate] decisions [than pilots do] and maintain calm when the poop is hitting the fan...for example, “shoot, no-shoot” situations. Again, training and experience are to be relied upon...ask @blufinz52.

Yes it was the B-17. I’ve taken off out of that airport as a passenger before. I’m just amazed at the calm and cool pilots seem to maintain prior to crashing. Sorry it may be taboo to talk about for you guys but I’ve parachuted several times and I think I swore and freaked out the entire way down. Out of school I worked in the prison system for a number of years and I had to remain calm in some dangerous situations or I’d lose control of the unit but I wasn’t tens of thousands of feet in the air in a heavy piece of metal hurling towards the ground.

Cog at a desk in Corporate America. When I’m not replying to or forwarding emails or copying charts from Excel into PowerPoint I’m on conference calls asking someone if they’re talking on mute.

Entrepreneur and partial owner of a family business, that was founded in 1848.

(and no, I am not Nick Hayek who could write the same, more or less at least. 😉)
