3 body problem… books a little long winded and hard to follow.

Altered Carbon, the book and show are about equal and go in different directions.

I thought of altered carbon, the first season fits the bill, and I think that there are some aspects of the overall story arc that the show did more convincingly, but I wasn't a big fan of the second season. But you're right, about equal.

I’ll buck the trend here (see my subtitle) and say the 1995 BBC Pride and Prejudice with Jennifer Ehle and Colin Firth is just as good as the book and depending on your proclivity for descriptive prose and lots of it, better for some. I do love the book but the 6-hour Blu-ray is my favorite thing to watch anywhere, anytime.

Just finished watching season one of Silo last night and as chance would have it went to a Rotary Club fundraising jumble sale this morning and found this.

So thanks for this post

Better book. But good show!

I'm enjoying Welcome to Wrexham. It helps to be a football (soccer) fan, but there is a lot more to it. It is a pretty compelling story well told. My only complaint in the first season was the highlights from games were clearly put together by someone who doesn't understand the sport, but that got better in Season 2.

I am currently watching Star Wars Episode II with my sons for their first time.

"Whenever you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however impossible, must be truth it's Emperor Palpatine!"
-George Lucas

oh wait, that's actually what J.J. Abrams said.

Just finished Beacon 23 season one the other day a and now upto season 2 episode 4, not as deeply into it as Silo but still a well written and thought out storyline, acting is OK but perhaps not quite as good as Silo but not too much in it.

Watched the recently released The First Omen last night.
It dovetailed in very nicely to the original film series that started in 1976 Featuring Gregory Peck, this was a prequel and whilst not 100% in plot detail was none the less quite a satisfying addition to the series.
I was a bit perplexed when I read the wiki to the Original Omen with it saying it was not a good movie?? I was there in 1976 and thought it a very commendable effort, perhaps the authors of the wiki article were not even a twinkle in anyone's eye at the time.
The next question is will they reboot the movie series, probably not necessary as it fitted in so well but I am sure that won't make the movie makers any more cash if they don't.
I watched the original Omen again after watching this and it stood up very well.
Would definitely recommend to those that remembered the first ones to watch this new prequel.

And if you want to see the 2nd Doctor Who as you have never seen him before!

Watched Infinite (2021) last night, took me m a few minutes to work out I had seen it before.
Soso movie another bit of Mark Wahlberg chewing gum but watchable as per his usual efforts.

Previous night watched the recently released Rebel Moon part 2 (2024)

Great shoot em up Cowboy Movie oops I mean SF flick wasn't the greatest but still find myself wanting to see part 3,4 and probably 5 of this Zac Snyder film series, the boy need to get a real job ( just joking ).

Just finished season 1 of Fallout. Not a gamer, so never played the game, but the series is very entertaining.

I have to say, Walton Goggins is just a great actor. I first noticed him in The Shield, which is one of my favourite series of all time. He was great in Justified, played against type in Sons of Anarchy, showed his comedy chops in Vice Principles and The Righteous Gemstones, and is great in Fallout. He's become one of my favourite actors.

Check out SIX. Goggins was fantastic and it was a quite entertaining series.

My wife and I did a double feature of Furiosa and Fury Road. I've never seen more over-the-top, macho feminist movies.

Enjoying the latest Dr. Who. So far I like the new Doctor. Sometimes the liberal political messages are little too obvious for me, even though I generally agree with them.

We've been watching it too! I still think Matt Smith's era was a high water mark for me, but I'm enjoying the new doctor.

I was a David Tennant fan, but Matt Smith was good.

Try Star Trek Strange New Worlds.

I have, it is quite good. Much better than either Discovery or Picard IMO.

The last season of Picard was good.

I just finished the last season of Discovery - the story made little sense. I said from the start if all they wanted was to keep the technology out of the hands of everyone, just destroy the first clue and it's over. The end result simply proved that would have been the right move in the first place.

One show I was extremely impressed by recently was Sugar on Apple TV+, avoid any spoilers but it’s a superb show that takes the film noir detective genre and mixes it with several more in the present time.

I was reading an article by a cinematographer that Apple productions get many times more money and time to work on their projects and Sugar is yet another of those that really shows that.

The other is Slow Horses also on Apple TV+, Gary Oldman in an MI5 thriller that is remarkably well written and executed.
